4 or 5 day trip to Union Island or elsewhere from Tobago
We are going back to Tobago for the 3rd year and we are looking for an island for a short (4 or 5 day) getaway to some nice quiet island where the snorkelling would be OUTSTANDING. We thought perhaps Union Island.
we are looking for information on transportation to Union Island from Tobago as well as suggested hotels. OR any suggestions on any other suitable islands and accomodation and transportation?
thx
joe

I have looked into this myself Joe.
I have already done a day trip to Union Island ... the snorkelling is OK but nowhere near as good as Tobago, from my experience ... it was just a very good and relaxing sailing trip with stunning scenery that I arranged through Yes Tourism.
The 2 most attractive trips away from Tobago that I have seen so far are either a trip to the north coast of Trinidad (ref: The Rough Guide to Trinidad & Tobago) or a trip to Antigua from where you can take several trips to places like Barbuda and other nearby islands, visit the Volcano at Monserrat and go on a variety of snorkelling trips.
Hope this helps.
Regards

Hi Moritz
It is 2 years since I took the trip and this was before a regular plane was chartered.
I guess that Yes Tourism could arrange the trip to suit your needs ... I suggest you email them and ask ... they will give you best advice on this aspect of the trip.
As for the Sailing ... it is a very relaxing trip on a Schooner which was used in the Disney Film 'Pirates of the Caribbean' ... the crew look after you well, prepare excellent food and you have an opportunity to meet other tourists staying in various other parts of the Caribbean.
The scenery in some areas was quite stunning ... go for it !!

Hi,
I just returned from my trip to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Union Island has some interesting hills around Ashton to offer and if you climb the highest hill of the Grenadines, a fantastic view will reward you.
