Renting an "open top" type Jeep ?!

Hi there ! First day on the forum ! We'd like to rent an "open top" type of Jeep (suzuki or any brand) on 14th & 15th March departing from and returning to Store Bay area. Any suggestions? What will this cost? Also, we're going to stay in Speyside or Charlotteville on 14th & 15th, deciding between ManOWarBayCottages or BananaBoat ....suggestions?!

local business, good insurance choices, good vehicles, good service....
we only had satisfied customers with them! ENJOY and drive with care!

Dear Tricia,

I would recommend that you get a "hard top" jeep so that you have a secure locked place for your belongings. The soft tops are too easy to break into. Unless you're planning on driving the Charlotteville - L'Anse Formi road, a regular car will do just fine. We had no problems with the compact size that we rented from Sheppy -- who, by the way, I would highly recommend. Have a great time!

We're searching and hear good reviews from Sheppy's and KCNN but looks like $70 US per day including insurance. Kinda steep, but oh well. Yes-tourism says only "thrifty's" is available , yet KCNN and Sheppy's wrote to me and said they're availabe too! strange.....

Dear Tricia,

Why pay for insurance? In the US, just using a VISA or Mastercard will cover you for the Collision Damage Waiver. Isn't it like that in Canada also? Saves a lot of money!!

Thanks Joanne Green...I'll phone my visa company and ask them. Hopefully I'll save the $20 per day ! Did you rent from sheppy's or KCNN and avoid the additional $20 per day? I have been corresponding with Sheppy's , KCNN and also Yes-Tourism and I'm sure it will all be sorted out fine for my jeep hire. Please ignore my previous "strange" comment. Thank you !

Hi Tricia

I had to call into Yes Tourism today, so while there I mentioned your post. They looked your enquiry up. You enquired about a specific make/model of vehicle with three different rental companies. Your third choice, Thrifty's, had a car of that make/model available so there was no need for them to enquire with any other companies. KCNN and Sheppy were not on your list, so there's no reason for Yes Tourism to contact them.

It is a shame that you feel in necessary to publicly cast doubt on a very reputable company when they fulfilled your specific enquiry promptly and with what you asked for.

I completely agree with you Steve . . . . and that is why I tried to remove my posting but it did not allow me to remove it! It said "you can't edit a posting that has been replied to". Just wanted to remind anyone that found Tric's "strange" comment offensive that....

I don't see what the big deal is...she had an experience that confused her, came to this great forum to sort it out, and got the shaft instead of assistance. Actually, she got the shaft AND assistance, because her posting did allow Yes Tourism to clarify things for her. So really, everything worked out!

Just for future information, you can only edit a post up until the time someone else posts a reply to it, not after (replies might make no sense if the original/previous post is changed). No worries, you've made it clear so no big deal.

Without wishing to make Tricia feel worse, I am saddened that you think it is perfectly acceptable for readers to call into question the integrity of reputable firms who have simply done what they were asked to do. My comments were driven by fairness, not politcal correctness. I simply will not allow this site to be used to damage the reputation of firms without good reason.
