Surf's up

We're visiting Tobago for the first time this May, staying on the lower Atlantic coast. Is it worth bringing the boogie board for a bit of body surfing?

Dear John
Yes it is worth a bit of body surfing get to the Mount Irvine side of the island where the sea is that bit more rough or failing that go to the beach at Lambeau and you will not be disapointed.
Have Fun

Thanks Marcus
Guess I'll take the board but leave the wetsuit at home!
Looking forward to something warmer than Croyde....

Mount Irvine is best for surfing but very dangerous if you come too far in as there are rocks and corals that can cause nasty flesh wounds.

Along Turtle Beach, Castara and many other beaches along the caribbean side you can body surf the waves as they crash onto the beach ... real good fun.

You need to get your technique right as otherwise you can get injured if you are turned over by a large wave.

No boards required for this particular avenue of pleasure ... however too much of this sort of activity will see you returning home without your nipples.

I guess would prefer to risk the loss of my nipples than my pretty flesh on the rosks of Mt Irvine ... at least the nipples do grow back !!

Hope this helps

Hi John
Mount Irvine is the spot for surfing however this is not like atrip down to your local beachbreak, the wave breaks over rock and coral this is what makes the wave so good.If you are experienced with this type of wave then enjoy if not stick to the beachbreaks,i have surfed the spot at double over head and mistakes are painfull!!!
There are a few other spots in the area but again they are reef breaks but good fun can be had checking out the beach`s along the coast.
Regards Dan.

Paul, Dan
Thanks for your comments.
Don't worry, we take it easy in the beach break these days, so all parts of anatomy should be ok
I expected most of the good stuff to be over the reefs n' rocks, we're staying at Blue Haven and the shots of Bacolet bay seem to show reasonable sets (for mucking about on a little boogie board that is) so just thought it might be worth bringing the board.
Damn! it's snowing again :(
