Giant Leatherback Turtles

Post by Steve Wooler »

Hi Everyone

I felt that I just had to share the following photo with everyone. It was sent to me last night by John Hill, a regular contributor to the forum. John returned from Tobago just a few hours earlier and was already posting messages on the forum - what dedication!

This turtle got caught in fishing nets and ropes on the beach on Turtle Beach and couldn't get back to the water. John and others rescued it at 5.30am. The shot fascinated me because most readers will probably not have seen a picture of a giant leatherback in such close proximity to people and this helps you get it into perspective and realise just how big these lovely creatures are.

Well done John and thanks for sharing such an unusual and interesting photo with us all.
