Fishing Info

Post by Collins K »

Going across to the sister isle, (Tobago) next Friday for some fishing action on the beaches and bays with spinning equipment. The thing is that I have not seen any posts about fishing lately from any of the regulars to the forum to guide me to where the trophy tarpon or snook are hanging out these days  So if there are any new reports to add please don't hesitiate to post. I will be around Sandy Point lurking around in early morning and late evenings from next friday and will post my reports and pics if possible when I return home. Also anyone knows where the baitfish are hanging out as well? I believe the fishing should be good this time of year as in Trinidad it really is great on the North Coast beaches. Caught 9 Jacks and a 30 lb Tarpon on Saturday while looking at Tobago and wondering what is going on across there since the fising there is normally better than Trinidad....

Hi Collins K. I cannot say what is going on in Tobago but I would like to know more about those fish from Trinidad. What beaches did you catch those fish from and were they big Jacks.

Aye someone else from Trinidad boy :)
I live up East in Sangre Grande and normally fish the entire coastline from Toco to Guaya on the table(flat rock). The fish that I caught were caught from a rock just before San Souci on the North Coast. The key to fishing in the rocks and anywhere else for that matter is to look for the birds which will show u the bait thus the fish... I use spinning tackle with artificials only and have landed some tarpon in the 90lb range from the rocks and Jacks up to 30lbs, so it is productive. Tobago seems to always have the better sportfishing seasons when it comes to tarpon and jacks. The jacks I caught last week ranged from 7lbs to 18lbs and the tarpon was around 40, scale only goes up to 30. You can also e-mail me @ [email protected] if u need more info. Don't want to full up too much space talking about Trinidad since the site is strictly about Tobago.
