We were there in mid August and the road was almost completely paved and no problem to drive. There were a couple of sections about a mile or less that were a bit rough but the Northern section near Charlotteville was the best road on the island.

drove down it a couple of days ago and it was fine - just needs a bit of filling in places.

We also drove it a couple of times over the last two weeks. We had been told that it was now the quickest route from the Caribbean side to Speyside, but we found that despite it being complete right through to Charlotteville, there are so many repairs going on, the forest road via Roxburgh was still quicker. There are several patches where huge squares have been cut out from the tarmac, so it can be a bit of a slalom ride! But loads better than this time last year.

hello Jo
saw you a few times from the distance in little bay in castara, but never when I had time to chat. love to meet mytobago-people. maybe next time :o) did you meet josanne? she lived "nexed door" from you?

how is the traffic on the new road (passed in july last). I find, as long as it is not much traffic the "slalom" does not slow you down too much :o)

sunny greetings

Hello Steph

We were sorry not to meet you too, although we did chat to Brian a couple of times. We also missed Sharon and Brenton this year - we saw them in the distance at Castara Day, but never got the opportunity to say hello. I don't think we spent as much time in Little Bay this time round as the seas were too churned up for snorkelling, so perhaps catch up with you next time.

We only drove the new road in the early morning, so didn't meet much traffic. But I get the impression the road is worse right now than even a couple of weeks ago, so hopefully it will improve again just as quickly.
