Getting Married

Post by Jill »

I am trying to decide what time of day to have my wedding and don't want to have it in the midday heat. What time does it get dark if I was to book it for late afternoon?

Hi Jill

Like most places, it depends on the month of the year. However, being so close to the equator, sunset doesn't vary very much - from 6pm in January through to 6.30pm in June. From a photography point of view, you need to allow 30 minutes before these times if you want to avoid falling light and/or sunset colours.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jill

The best time for the wedding would be 5pm - it gives you time for the ceremony and fulfills the legal requirement of getting married before 6pm, and then time for photographs. Depending on the location of your ceremony, you should get some sunset photographs which would be a beautiful finish for the shoot.

Enjoy it!
