travelling with a baby

Post by Fiona Williams »

I would appreciate some feedback on anyone who has travelled with a baby to Tobago. Particularly can you get baby food in Tobago and any tips on changing your baby's body clock?

Hi Fiona,

Yes, they do jars of both Heinz and Gerber baby food, and also packets of baby rice / oatmeal which you mix with milk if you'd rather. They also sell baby-milk (several brands, including SMA) and follow on milk. Also Pampers and Huggies nappies and wipes, and Johnsons Baby lotion and the like!! You can pick it all up in Pennysavers or Morshead's.

I wouldn't worry about the body clock thing! Baby's are very adaptable! The chances are that he/she'll adjust better and quicker than you!!

have people with babies on a regular basis. the first one or two mornings might be very early, but then the kids seem to ajust better than the adults do. give them a day on the beach and keep them up a bit late and it should do the trick. have a nice holiday

In case anyone should have a similar type question, you may find the below useful.

My sister went to Trinidad a couple of years ago with my nephew who was 14 months old. She ran out of baby milk that she had taken from London (he could/would only drink a certain type) and she could not see the same name in the grocery stores.

I called the manufacturer's customer service here in the UK and asked them under what name would that particular milk be marketed in Trinidad (and by default Tobago) if it was available there. They did have it in Trinidad, but under a slightly different name. I seem to recall Nestle (?) was making it under licence or something like that. I passed on the information and my nephew, is now a very noise three year old!

If your child has a particular requirement, I do recommend contacting the customer services team nearest to you. If their product isn't available, they may be able to give you the name of another product that would be the equivalent.
