Post by Bec »

Hi any ideas on a small resturant I can hire that does great
food and doesnt cost a fortune?
Ideally seating up to 12 people with nice atmosphere and decor?
Suggestions would be most appreciated
Thanks,
Beck

Hi Bec

Use our Food & Drink/Restaurants/Introduction & Search page to search for the (few) restaurants in Castara. There's not a lot to choose from and prices don't vary hugely (Sandcastles being the only one substantially more expensive than the others, but the only one with a more upmarket international menu).

Hi Bec,

what about sitting in a restaurant directly on the beach? There are two possiblilites in Castara, the Boathouse on Castara's litte beach and the threehouse of the Cascreole on the big beach. Both restaurants are
not upmarket, but you'll get the real Castara feeling there.

Here are some impressions of the Boathouse:

and the Cascreole's:

There are mixed opinions about the food in the Boathouse in this forum,
but I was always satisfied. Can't say anything about Cascreole's food,
because I haven't eaten there. The best would be you test both locations before the party gets started.

Have fun!

Hi Bec,be aware, that in the country there are no menus, this is what we got today.Which means it's cooking now or it will be when he catches it!
In lowlands restaurants they have fixed menus etc, inland no.BUT if you want a real LOBSTER,from the sea to your table, then it is Castara!!!!

Another beach location in Castara sprang in my mind: Cafe Delight offered an all-you-can-eat barbecue evening on Mondays during our stay in December 2005. For 100 TT we got pork, lamb chops, chicken and tuna filets with callalloo, rice, pasta and different kinds of salads togehter with free rum punch. The location is not as unique as the Boathouse or the Cascreole but the meal was a good offer and delicious. Call them in advance because I don't know if they still offer the barbecue and if it's still on Mondays.

Here is a pic of Cafe Delight:
