Fishing in Trinidad

Great site this!
I will go to Trinidad and Tobago for x-mas and will only spend 3-4 days in Tobago, the rest of my time I will spend in Trinidad (about 3 weeks) and are now wondering if anyone could give me any pointers and tips where there is good fishing there. I have been searched the internet but have not found any good info at all... I am staying close to Arima and have car. I will bring my own spinning gear.
I would be very grateful for any help.

I know nothing of the fishing opportunities on Trinidad, but contributors B Jack and Collins K both live there.

steve p thanks for that info, i´ll pm them and see if they can give me some tips. I also love Tobago and have been there many times but have never had any fishing gear with me. This time i will!
Is there any flats/reefs in Tobago that you could get to without the need of boat?

There is a section on fishing on and around Tobago here -

There are also loads of threads in this section of the forum - check out the Tarpon and Jacks thread, or any others with fishy sounding titles.
Some go back a couple of years or more, so happy hunting.

I would say that this site contains more practical info on fishing Tobago - bar none!
Much of the tactics, species and tackle will equally apply to Trinidad.

All flats fishing is done around the lower Caribbean end of the Island, from Buccoo around to Lambeau.

I have been known to fish 'a little' around Tobago.

It's a wonderful place, with a wide variety of species and most are are of specimen size.

If you are staying around the Crown Point area - this is a good place to start, especially if you want tarpon, jacks and snook.

I've never caught a mullet on Tobago -
I lie. I have caught the freshwater ones from the streams on bread flake.
