A week ago we arrived back home to Sweden again, after having 15 wonderful days in Tobago. It was not easy to accept the temperature and rain here again...
I just want to report some opinions of some places and trips we went to.
We spent one day at Pigeon Point, as we wanted to have a look at "the most beautiful beach"??? Yes, the sand was wite, there were palmtrees hanging over you, there were shops and restaurants, facilities. ( You have to pay 18§TT to get entrance, but that´s fair )
I felt that is was too crowded arond the buildings, so i prefered to walk away a short distance. The beach was not so narrow there, and there was more breeze. To swim at PP was a bit disappointing. The water was not at all clear - perhaps some"dust" from the reeve outside??, and the bottom had many stones. We have been there once now, but I think that`s enough.
We liked Black Rock Beach ( Stonehaven Bay ) very much! Long beach, not many people, nice little restaurant, wonderful waves.
One day we of course had to try a glassbottomboat to Buccoo Reef, just to make our own opinion of that. And I can say that it was not worth he money. When we came to the reef it looked more dead than alive, something I had read about earlier. We didn´t see many fishes or corals.
They took us then to the Nylon Pool, and there we spent some time swimming in the warm, wonderful water.
When we got back, we told the "manager" we were disappointed, and he said that if he only had known that we were used to snorkel he would have taken us to the deeper part of the reeve. But how could we know that we cold have made a choice? So, if anyone have plans to go whith a glassbottomboat - ask them to go to the deeper part. I think they call it The Coral part. Am I right?
We went on a hole day boattrip whith Frankie´s and that was really good!
The trip started at Mt. Irvine beach and then we drove north along the Caribian coast. We had some fish, a little tuna, that we later had for lunch.
They stopped outside Castara and there we had some good snorkelling.
Two other "guests" jumped off at Castara, because one of them felt very sick. Me and my family had taken "seasicknesstablets" so none of us had any problem. We went to Englismans Bay and had some snorkelling there too. Lunch on a beach, with a friendly stingray almost around our feet. Then snorkelling again, on the deep part of Buccoo Reef this time!
Wonderful trip on a wonderful day.
End of report!
Lena
