DATES ON MESSAGES AND REPLIES

Post by Gill M »

Hi Steve

Over the pat few days I have noticed that the dates on messages and replies have become something like this " e39pme0413312600".

Now, is this my PC, Norton or AOL yet again????

Hi Gill

I assume you're referring to the date and time next to "posted" above the message - so, for example, the "Posted: 26 November 08:10 pm " above your post.

Hmm! I think you should take more coconut water and less rum in your cocktails.

Sorry, this can only be your browser - Internet Explorer or whatever you are using. The date and time are sent from the server in plain English, just like everything else on the page. Is any other information on the page corrupted?

Is anyone else seeing the same thing?

As much as its easy to blame AOL (and they more than deserve all criticism, 99% of the time), I don't see how even their arrogance can be affecting the way that pages display in your browser). Hold on, you're not using the AOL browser interface are you? I didn't think anybody still did that. My advice is to dump it QUICK. Use Firefox or even Internet Explorer.

Hi Steve

Many thanks for your reply.

The header to your reply reads "Posted: e39ame0413312700" which of course should be the date!!! No, I haven't seen anything else, either on the forum or on the site that looks peculiar, just the dates and yes I do use the AOL browser bar so I will try IE and see what happens.

Yes, I am at the end of my tether with AOL and they used to be so good.

Hi Steve

I'm now on Internet Explorer and still no dates AND your picture has been replaced by a red cross!!!!!!!!!!!!! Other pictures on the forum are fine and on the rest of the site.

Well, my picture being replaced by a red cross is clearly a distinct advantage, so be grateful for small mercies.

Hmm! You've got me totally perplexed. There's clearly something about that specific page that your computer doesn't like. Actually, when you say that my picture has been replaced with a cross (which simply means it can't find it), is it also replaced on other forum pages?

Hi Steve

I'm back on AOL browser now and your picture is back again but still no date. I though you were being shy

It's really weird because when I used IE it was only YOUR picture that had been replaced by a red cross and that was througout the whole forum and not just this thread, everyone else's photos were there as far as I'm aware. No problems at all with the photographs on the rest of the site either.

Hi Gill

You've really got me scratching my nut now.

Can you do me a favour please. Go back to Internet Explorer, connect to this page and then once displayed, select View/Source from the menu bar at the top of Internet Explorer. This will open the code for the page in Notepad. Swich to notepad and save the file to your hard disk then email the file to me (click the email button below). This will give me a clearer idea of what is happening.

Cheers!

Thanks for that Alex

It turned out that the date in My Profile was a little peculiar but all is well now.
