Thank you Bill

Another factor in the weather that will have a minimal impact on Tobago is the Monserrat Volcano which had an explosive event yesterday.

A major dome collapse is likely at anytime and this will introduce plenty of ash into the atmosphere and marginally decrease moisture.

The trades are likely to carry most of the ash west in the direction of the Dominican and Jamaica but don't be surprised to see a few interesting sunsets in Tobago.

Bill, sounds like you really are ready for some sunshine. I know that I certainly am. There's still no snow here in polar bear -country and we didn't even see Santa because reindeer couldn't pull the sleigh without the snow  . Anyways, see you in Castara and let's enjoy the sun then :D .

Johanna,

We had an 8 inch snow fall in Chicago early in December and then things warmed up, the snow all melted and we have had above average temps for over thirty straight days. And now the for the good news :!: The forecast is for temps to drop drastically next week to below zero (F) and we'll be in paradise 8)

Hi everybody, now totally recovered from the holiday festivities and ready to take on the Yanks and Scandies next week!!!!!yesterday was a superb day all day but some parts of the island had a little rain.Today it has started with a high overcast and very light rain---unusually this rain is COLD.It has started to brighten up now and it looks like it is going to be fine.
All for now,David :D 8)

"COLD" for tabago standards. a london or hamburg rain would still be different...
but its true, we islanders can put socks on in bed
hope david does not ask me to install a central heating these days... switch the fan off and snuggle up in you blanket

shady greetings (still clouds over head and showers)

Hi Steph and David,

A "cold" rain in Tobago beats snow in Chicago any time. I'll tell my darling wife that she can leave her long flannel nightgown at home and to bring something a whole lot shorter and less substantial :P

See you both on Monday.

Hi Chaps

There is alot of cloudiness across the south east Caribbean including Tobago and it is not shifting very quickly.

Rain, if any, should be light.

Sorry Chaps

Looks like this expanding area of moisture is going to stick around probably through to Sunday / Monday.

This extends right out to the mid-Atlantic and covers much of Venezuela and is affecting all islands as far north as St Lucia.

The rain will be variable as Brian says but it does not look like there will be much sunshine until early next week.

The good news is that the area of cloud is now moving north and dropping much heavier rain elsewhere.

There are still some areas of cloud around Tobago but it looks like it is starting to clear up.

Still raining over Barbados so it is not too far away.

Certainly looks like it will clear ... maybe the odd shower.

Weather Satellite pictures of the Caribbean

Post by Clyde Alleyne »

To get another perspective of the weather over Tobago and the Caribbean area, you can see "near real time" satellite weather pictures at this site http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/satellite.shtml
Under the subsection "Caribbean" in the "Atlantic Views" section, you can see different satellite views: Visible Image - Loop, Infrared Image - Loop, Shortwave IR Image - Loop, and Water Vapor Image - Loop. The site is also very very useful for tracking storms and hurricanes in the Atlantic during the hurricane season.

Hi David,

My family and I are arriving in Castara this Friday morning. I'm white and my wife is Chinese. We will be there with her siater and husband, and our little boy.

Say hi, as we 'may' stand out :)

Is the beach packed with people (I don't think so, but anyhow.....)?

Take care.
