first trip and not the last

Post by Hilary Goldberg »

just back and had a wonderful trip, went around the island more or less by public transport, maxi taxi and hitching, i encountered no hasstles. favourite places were the rain forest, castara area and pirates bay near charletsville. i also really liked it around mount irving and arnos vale (great for bird watching). stayed in guest houses and hilton, so got a taste of both ends of budgets. the only thing i didnt like were the bloody mosquitoes and sand flies, particularly bad around crown point and towards canan area due to mangroves swamp.

Hilary, I'm glad to hear that you had a good time, and had no hassles with the public transportation. Yes the mossies around the Crown Point and Canaan areas can be a bit annoying, especially around dusk when they are the most active. I have learnt to use OFF liberally if I know that I am going to be out and about at those times, and they don't bother me then.

Hi Hillary,

looks like you get hooked like we all got.

Even the §$%&%$§ mossies will not keep me away. Next time try some Citronella oil and stay away from the mangroves at sunset.

You will be back like the most of us and every time you will enjoy more.

Take care and maybe see you there one day

Cheers

Gisela (6 days to go \:D/ \:D/ )
