Making the most of the last day

We are flying home in the evening on Saturday 10th March. I anticipate we will have four hours or so to kill in the area around the airport before we check in.

I read in the Rough Guide that there are showers and lockers at the Store Bay Beach. Does anyone know how feasible it would be to leave luggage in the lockers and then while away the last few hours on the beach followed by a shower before checking in at the airport?

Or any other tips to make the most of the last few hours before the flight home?

Hi Mary

I would not risk leaving suitcases in lockers anwhere, you can however check in your luggage at the airport from around midday depending on who you fly with. We flew Excel last year and checked in our luggage about 4 hours before we flew. You are then free to do your own thing and return in time for the flight.

Mary,who are you fliying with and where are you staying.If you are flying with Virgin annd staying at one of the larger hotels try their check and chill service.I travel Virgin and either get there before they open check in ,so you get checked,get rid of your luggage pay your tax and disappear for a few hours,or leave it until the last possible minute to check in a pay your tax.

Checked in and chilled out at the Rex Turtle Beach twice last time I went - superb service. Not at a hotel this time and so will have the "check in stress out" possibly.

The one thing to do is definitely NOT go through passport control too soon - did that under the advice of a Virgin rep last time, nothing the 'other side' but a wait!

This time with a 2 year old I can't say the airport departure is one I look forward to!
