Solo female traveler - what area to stay in?

Post by Lynntt »

Hi, I am a 40-something female who will be traveling to Tobago this summer. I'm just getting started planning, and love this site! I see lots of places to stay that are within my budget, but I'd like some opinions about what area is best to stay in. I'm kinda on sensory overload just now!!

What I'm looking for: I will probably spend lots of time onsite at the B&B/hotel of my choice. I love to read, lounge around, etc. So I'd like it to be picturesque. I'd like to be able to walk to different places to shop and eat, and I definitely want to be within walking distance to a decent beach. Of course somewhere safe.

Any ideas?

Hi There,

I'm going over in 3 weeks for the first time so I don't have the experience to answer you. Just thought I'd say welcome to the site!

You'll get all the info you need on here,

Yup, David is right. Castara is the place. In fact there is a sign outside the Cascreole Restaurant which reads, 'Welcome To Paradise'.

You better believe it!

Hi Lynn
You are going to the right place, I would say the best place is the Kingfish room at Naturalist as you have a lovely patio area with table and chairs and loungers yet you are only 30 yards from the beach and only the same to Veras restaurant and the Cafe Delight however you would struggle to find anywhere poor in Castara.

Hi Lynn,

as a woman traveling alone Castara ist the best place to go. I go there now for years (most of the time on my own) and still enjoy every minute. People in Castara are very friendly and if you want to find friends its the easiest thing there.

And it's nowhere more safe than in Castara :D

Enjoy your holidays
