Sunday school and goat racing!

Am visiting Tobago over Easter with 3 children (13/10/8 ) I cant work out from web info, whether Sunday School is something thats ok for kids or is Adult only. Would much appreciate some advice.
Also does anyone know any thing about the crab and goat races on Easter monday

Mialee,Sunday School is definitely NOT for youngsters,but the races are ok 'cos that is in the day,and is great fun...give them a few dollars to have a bet,they will enjoy it.
Sunday Schol is a "party" that starts at about 10pm and goes on until the big hours of the morning.Whereare you staying?This will be important in getting to School.

Hi Mialee,

We took our 2 kids (6 & 8 at the time) to goat and crab races last year and they absolutely loved it. We are definitely going to go again this year. Can't wait - only 2 and a bit weeks to go until our 3rd visit to Tobago!

David-we are staying one week at seashells villas then a week at castara but we wont be going to School if its an adult thing as cant leave the kids alone-never mind!
Will look out for races though and check date when we get there.

Just to pick up on David's point, I can confirm that the Goat Races are held at Mount Pleasant on Easter Monday and at Buccoo the next day.

there is a very busy schedule in Buccoo for this day: the Buccoo Village Committee, organizes every year, with the help of many sponsors, several activities, starting in the morning with a street parade, where children partecipate. I will try to get a schedule of the events and more details, later, as soon as we reach Buccoo. Ciao Gabriele

Hi,
Although the main part of Sunday School with music and dancing starts later, my daughters, aged 8 and 10 at the time enjoyed visiting Buccoo earlier on a Sunday eveing to sample some of the delicious local food and browse the stalls set up along the street selling souvenirs, Batiki Point is a souvenir and batik shop in Buccoo which is well worth a visit and stays open late on Sundays.

Street parade (costumes) organized by the children of the Buccoo Primary School, will start around 11 a.m. and will be followed by cultural shows. Early afternoon famous crab/goat racing on the same grounds. All around, street fair, local crafts and street food. Buona Pasqua! Gabriele

We went to Sunday School in early March but were really disappointed. Apart from the excellent food stalls, there's not a lot else to do.

The steel pan band were playing in a small concrete building so that it was hard to see/dance unless you were able to squeeze into the building.

The craft stalls were few and far between, selling jewellery and a few T Shirts.

The main bar (Hendrix) reminded me of a school hall with a school disco without many people! Drinks were cheap and there was an outside seating area but the atmosphere was distinctly lacking.

There were lots of tourists milling about and it reminded me of one of those events that only tourists go to and the locals don't bother with.

It took us an hour to get there from Castara and, all in all, I would not recommend a trip to Sunday School if you have to travel far to get there.

For the real street party you need to get down there around midnite. By this time most of the tourists have been bussed back to their hotels. That's when the serious wining starts and the music is soca, reggae and dancehall which goes on until dawn.
