Will definitely be doing some fishing when we are out there...it's off season so we will try inshore on one of the little (cheaper) boats that provide rods and stuff.

Nice to see something about Fishing on the site.

However I do wonder about the use of some terms that few if any outside the UK would understand-just what is a 'Moppet' anyway

Curtis's excellent fishing equipment and voluminous local knowledge make fishing with him a joy-he also does Snorkelling and Sea Bird watching trips and if you're staying somewhere with a kitchen he can sometimes be convinced to cook up some Island specialties with your catch of the day.

Thanks for your comments on the fishing article.

Obviously it would be impossible to cover every tour operator, fishing
charter, rock mark and pier on the island, but it was remiss of us not to
include Curtis as one of the best. I haven't fished with him, but I remember your forum post detailing the time that you spent trolling up around the Charlottesville area.

I couldn't find your post in the archive and thought that you were fishing
with 'Seatours' so got the operator in Charlotteville wrong. Sorry about that. Perhaps Steve could make the necessary amendments to the article to include the contact details for Curtis and to include your glowing reference?

By the way, a MUPPET has nothing to do with Kermit or Fozzy Bear, but is a UK term for an artificial squid.
They are mainly used over here for deep water fishing for Cod, Pollack and Coalfish, especially when fishing around structure such as wrecks and reefs. They are added to the hooks of pirks (chrome plated weights)
and seem to improve the attractiveness of these metal lures.
Have just come back from a weeks shore fishing in Tobago and had several good Jack Crevalle, Barracuda, snapper, ladyfish and Tarpon, plus one lost bonefish.

As our knowledge of the fishing scene in Tobago improves, we will ammend and improve the article, so if you have anything to add, we would be pleased to hear from you, or anyone else, on your experiences.
