Car Hire in April - can we leave it to book on Island?

Post by Ann Ball »

Hi - This is a great site and I spend much time searching it for info! We are going 12th April for 2 weeks and plan to have a car at least some of the time but not all. As we are finding it difficult to decided exactly how long we want the car, and don't want to pay to have it sitting going nowhere we think we might be better waiting till we arrive and get a feel for what we will be doing. Will we have a problem hiring one once there?
I am not sure if April counts as high season so don't want to have to worry about ending up with no car at all!

Hi Ann

Welcome aboard!

The week or so over and either side of Easter is obviously a peak time, so booking in advance is best. However, other than during the Easter peak, April sees the high season tailing off and you should have no problem getting a rental.

My advice would be to contact Yes Tourism - either before you arrive or during your stay. They deal with the most reliable rental agencies and it will save you having to shop around looking for a car if the island gets busy.
