Holiday Tobago

Post by Christine Nelson »

 Hi
I had my first visit to Tobago in Jan 2003. I stayed at Rex Turtle all inclusive.I found the Hotel really good but the staff could have been freindlier. The beach was great and so were the local people on the beach.
I flew Monarch and did not have to disembark at grenada.the flight was most satisfactory.
I enjoyed my holiday so much I have booked to go back July 19 2003 flyomg with Monarch for £440.00 .I am booked to stay at Birdies Nest appartment. I will let you know how I got on.
has anyone got information on living in Tobago asI would love to up sticks and move there.

Hi Christine

I just typed you a long reply detailing my experiences of quitting the UK for Tobago, plus my knowledge of the tourist stay/work or business permit/residency regulations etc etc. Would you believe that I then pressed "submit" and it disappeared, with the forum message "invalid session" appearing. Steve - can you find my message or is lost in the ether? Anyway, I should be happy to impart my advice and limited knowledge of the rules and regs to you, plus advice on some (legal!) shortcuts to residency, assuming Steve cannot resurrect my reply or that someone else does not tell you what you need. Suffice to say that the rules are tight and infringement may get you deported, but there are avenues to pursue if you are serious. Have a nice second trip anyway and keep on coming whatever happens.
Regards
Glyn

Hi Glyn

Sorry, matey, but it's gone, I'm afraid.

The "Invalid Session" error comes up when you’ve been "off-line" for a long time. Basically the system thinks that you’ve logged-off. When you send the next instruction (page request/submit, etc), it thinks you might be somebody else trying to access the forum using your log-in details. It’s a security thing. More details are given in the “Notes for New Readers” forum ( “Invalid Session Problems” ).

As I say in the Notes, there is a very easy way round this problem. It is also the best way to compose all new posts or replies longer than a line or two, regardless of the “Invalid Session” problem. Do as I am doing right now – compose your message in your word processor (Microsoft Word, or whatever). That way you can take as much time as you like, save the message and return to it later if it is a particularly long one. You have the added bonus of the spelling and grammar checker.

You can connect to the forum either before or after composing your message, but do not hit the “New Post” or “Reply” button until your message is finished and you are ready to copy and paste it to the forum. That way, if you have been off-line too long and do get the “Invalid Session” message, you won’t have lost anything – simply re-log in again and connect to the appropriate forum/topic/post. Copy your post by selecting the entire Word document (CTRL+A), copy it to the clipboard (CTRL+C), switch to the forum and click anywhere inside the posting form, then paste the message (CTRL+V). Using these keyboard shortcuts makes it a quick and easy task. The whole procedure is much, much easier than typing in the forum form. Finally, you can add any formatting or smilies to the message and then finally press “Submit”.

Easy, peasy!!!

p.s. Christine, hope you don't mind me moving this topic, but I felt in view of your questions about living in Tobago it would receive better exposure in the 'General Questions" section.
