Fishing up North??

Post by Simon S »

Hi Folks,

Have any of you fishermen and women fished from the beach up around Speyside?

I'm tempted to throw a lure out and any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Simon

Hi Simon

The short answer (from me) is - No.
Well, that's not strictly true. I did try, but caught nothing.

To be honest, I wasn't fishing at my most favourite time of day which is dawn or dusk and it was only a few chucks off the beach before heading over to Charlotteville.

I would guess, based on what I've read about the various species seen by scuba divers, is that barracuda, jacks and tarpon could be caught on lures like Aigle magnet sliders cranked back across the surface.

If you do try this and are getting hits, but aren't hooking up, the culprits may well be houndfish, which are prolific almost everywhere, especially during the daytime period.

I may give it a go during our next trip and if I get anything, I'll let you know.

Cheers
Steve
Take only photos - leave only footprints. I like that concept.
