My wife and I and our two children spent a memorable week at Birdie's Nest in April 2007. We took a one-bed apartment downstairs as the wonderful two-bed apartment upstairs had been booked. The accommodation was pleasant and comfortable - air condition was a delightful benefit, given the temperature at this time of year. The house is in an idyllic beach front location - it was great to hear the waves crashing and be able to stroll on the beach so close to the house. The sea at Black Rock can be wild and is risky to swim in. However, a rock formation has created a pool which provides a safe area for children to play in and to explore the rock pools for small fish and crabs.

The beach was a short walk from Turtle Beach, and we spent a couple of nights doing turtle watches to help the local environmentalist in his work to protect leatherbacks from being killed by poachers. Princess and Prince Robinson were very helpful. I was astounded that Prince was only 22 yet displayed such good customer care, busines skills, and hospitality. Any issue he knew of he went out of his way to provide the solution, such as providing me with a mobile phone until I sorted my phone out. On my son's birthday, Prince insisted on providing ice cream - being a bank holiday most shops were closed and he drove nearly across the island just to get the ice cream. He brought over his young cousins to join my son for his birthday cake and celebration. It is difficult to think what Prince would not do to make guests happy.

Birdie's Nest is an excellent choice for a beach front holiday location away from the main tourist traps.
