Hello everyone, my wife has been asking me questions about Lush. Does anybody know if ths place is still open and if so what is the best day of the week to go there..Am i right in thinking this is the place that has a bar with a pool tbale and then a huge garden with old horse gates from a racing track..I get the feeling i went to this place when i was last in Tobago in 1999..Any idea how much it is to get in, what time it goes on until and what sort of music poliy they have. I don't even know where it is..ALl i know is my wife has seen a report saying it's fab and now is nagging me to go when we arrive...Any takers?

Thanks guys..

Dear Kevin,

Lush is still in existence. It is located on Shirvan Road (just off the highway and you will see a sign to your right after 1/2 mile). It is still one of the most popular "liming" spots in Tobago, especially for the youngsters. The music they play is very mixed, some evenings they play more soca and calypso, then it's more dub or latin. On weekends they mostly have DJ's or live bands. They charge an entrance fee, I believe it's about TTD 20 per person, sometimes ladies are free of charge if you arrive before a certain time.
To give you a brief description about Lush: the bar and two pool tables are inside, there is a large terrace outside (mostly used for dancing) with some seating areas in the former Starting Gates (that was the former name of Lush). And don't forget, liming in Tobago does not start until late (there is hardly anybody around before 11 pm or midnight) and they go on until the early hours of the morning depending on the crowd and the event. About two weeks ago they had Tanya Stevens live at Lush, I hear it was great fun (couldn't go myself unfortunately).

Hope this helps

It most certainley does Tanja. My wife will be VERY pleased to know it is still on. Would you happen to know if they serve food at all, and if so what it could be etc. Also would you know what is the besxt day to go there?

I am glad it is the place i though it was, as i enjoyed it last time. Will it be easy to get a taxi from outside after..? I am really looking forward to seeing the Island again and haven't forgotten what you said on the last post i left about maybe hooking up and cooking up some Thai food as there isn't any on the island..I would really like that!! I better make sure i bring all the right spices etc with me!!

thanks a million again Tanja...Keep up the good work!

Dear Kevin,

thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately, Lush does not serve food at all so you better get some good food in your tummy before you go there. Best days to go to Lush are definitely Friday and Saturday nights.
I am not too sure about taxis late at night as I usually take my car or go with friends who have transport. Best is to take a car or if you use a taxi, ask the driver if he can pick you up lateron (but do not pay him for the return fare one time, that might put a bright smile on his face but doesn't necessarily mean that he will be there to collect you........)

Would really be nice to meet you and your wife and "make a cook", don't forget the spices, I can provide the curry paste (green and red) and the fish sauce (if needed), talk to you later.

All the best
