Sunrise in Castara?

Post by Marc Jones »

This may be one of the daftest questions, but I don't know the answer so here goes!

Would one be able to watch a sunrise in Castara? (I think set yes, rise no).

If not - where would be the best place to watch dawn break?

Thanks!

Marc, definitely sunset, and not sunrise! Castara is on the northwestern side of the island, and there is a mountain ridge to the east of you so there is no chance of seeing the sunrise from Castara. For the sunrise, you would be able to see it from any beach along the windward (ie Eastern) coast, from Canoe Bay, Lowlands and the Tobago Hilton on the southern side, to Speyside on the northern end.

Marc, you can see a superb sun rise from the top of Mount Dillon.Unfortunately when I've got up early enough to go and take some pics it has always been overcast/raining,which is quite normal for that time of day.I shall succeed one day.

If you would like I have a shot taken on my way to fish out of Castara early one morning looking east. Shows the angle of the (summer) sun. Is it possible to post here? I can email it to you if not. Steve?

I just realized that I was pointing northeast. You can tell by the band of light in the foreground. It was a very hazy morning.

Thank you Editor. 8)
