Affordable offshore fishing for a single guy

Post by Clyde Alleyne »

I have an foreign friend who is now working in Trinidad, and he is interested in experiencing offshore fishing in Tobago. His problem is that he's a single guy and therefore can't afford to charter a boat all to himself, so he was wondering whether anyone in Tobago offers fishing charters where he could be part of a group and thereby share the cost of the charter. Can anyone advise whether this is possible, or alternatively whether there are any trustworthy local fishermen who would be willing to have him tag along for some kind of shared cost?

I think if you called any of the off shore charter operators they would let you know if they have customers that wanted to share. I know that Curtis (Aming) at Workshop Sea Tours in Charlotteville (727-3989) is often approached by people who would like to share a charter. I think it will be hit or miss. Ask the operators if they have any suggestions, I have always found them to be most helpful. Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestions, Phil. I'll pass them onto my friend!

Frothy (Hard Play) takes singles to fill his charters but I cannot reccommend it. We had a disagreement over price because of a lack of fishing time. We drew straws and I got the short one. Too bad, all I got was an expensive boat ride. :x
