I have now been back from the CCR for just over 4 weeks and have finally found the time to write my review.
As regular readers will probably know I love the CCR and I was really looking forward to this visit.
I have come back slightly disappointed.
On arrival we were greeted with a glass of champagne and quickly checked in and taken to our room - which was really lovely and fantastic view.
Because we arrived at 1pm we decided to go straight down to the beach bar to have some lunch and to be greeeted by empty containers at the buffet - OK I accepted this as we managed to get some sandwiches etc.
I was aware that you could get a childrens meal at the beach bar from 5pm and as I had a 2 year old with me that I wanted to get fed and to sleep before we had our evening meal I decided to take advanage of this - the first evening the staff were not even aware that they did childrens meals and then when we did finally order some food it took an hour to arrive! This problem seemed to be a common one but once I spoke to the Manager, Eric Feniet, we did not experience this problem again.
Generally the service was not up to the high standard that it has been in the past and some of the staff are not friendly etc, on one night the waitress leant over me to get a plate and dropped it on me.
I am not a 'complainer' as such but I did raise my concerns with Eric again and I did notice a slight improvement in the standards.
I really did feel that they are having a problem with recruiting staff and training them up to the right standard. However, the staff that have been there on previous visits were just as friendly and good as before.
Whilst we were out there I had an accident and had to be taken to the local hospital (that really was an experience I care not to repeat) and the staff at the CCR were fantastic - they really looked after me accompanying me to the hospital and making sure that I was comfortable at all times. I really was very impressed with the level of care I received at this time.
One member of staff who deserves their weight in gold when I was there and certainly made my trip and a happier and more memorable was the beach boy, Tiele - he is so good at his job a real star.
I still love the CCR but I am saddened that the standards have slipped but I am confident that Eric Feniet and his team are capable of pulling it back up to old standards.

So very sorry to hear you had an accident on your holiday, Kirsten, and also sorry to hear your comments about the Coco Reef. I have spent the last couple of days getting thoroughly over-excited as we have just booked our second visit to Coco Reef - next July! We absolutely loved it the first time round and my 2 boys haven't stopped going on about it for the past 2 years! I will now be stuck on the computer for the next year, looking out for reviews. By the way, I had to spend a night with my son in hospital in Cyprus once, and I still shudder to think of it!

The CCR is still lovely so dont panic it is just not as good as it has been - I went in 2003, 2004 and this year.
My 2 girls, 9 & 10, loved every second of their holiday as did my tobago babe!
You will enjoy it again I am sure - I just feel before that the CCR out shone any other hotel I had been to and this year it just wasn't the same.
Kirsten (I managed to break 3 of my toes by falling over in the pool!)

Thanks for your reports, Kirsten.
Let your final comment about falling over be a warning to readers that whilst you may have been a little dissapointed with the hotel, the strength of the rum punches is clearly still up to the mark.

We are not going back to Tobago next year as we already have other plans but will be out there in 2009.
Oh by the way Steve, the rum punch is still good but the reason I broke my toes was because I was running after my little man!
And before any of you ask - there is no chance of my tobago babe having a brother or sister!!!!!!
