XL Airlines

Post by Tony G »

Hi Y'all

Just started planning my next trip to Tobago. We're not going until next february but I like to have everything sorted well in advance and I need to know how frugle I have to be in order to scrape the money together.

I was looking for a 21 day return from Gatwick. XL do not show these on their website and neither do Golden Caribbean. After phoning Golden Caribbean I was informed that they only do 7 or 14 day returns. I sent three emails to XL, none of which were replied to. It took four phone calls to their customer service department to obtain the information I was looking for... and when I finally got it I was gobsmacked! For a 21 day return they wanted to charge me £784 per person. Virgin only charge £557. So... no contest!

Anyone else ever tried to get a 21 day return from XL?

Tony

Hi Tony, apparently the reason is XL(GC)are a charter operation so they need their seats filled both ways.Go out ,come back ,two weeks no problem, try and vary it...... you are paying for a return seat that you don't use!(I wonder if they sell it on?)
David See you in Feb :D

Aah well, I guessed it was something like that.

Not really too bothered as I'd prefer to travel with Virgin anyway if only for the easy, on-line check-in.

And yes, look forward to seeing you again Mr W.
