Mr Wooler,
I'd like to thank you for this excellent and easy to use site. My family think I'm in the grip of an obsession, but I feel as well-informed as a new visitor could be. I've virtually compiled my own holiday brochure!
I'd also like to thank all the contributors who have made this site so entertaining ( this is turning into an Oscar type speech; I'll be crying in a minute)
The most sensible enquiry or comment seems to send everyone completely off the rails, thus;
I have discovered unusual uses for linseed oil, boxing gloves/shorts, the existence of nasty diseases (Leishmaniasis) and the hidden talents of Papa Doc Duvalier! I've even read threads about fishing; something I 've no interest in whatsover!
A sensible enquiry led to a discussion about whether Kernow and Cymru ( I'm showing off now) are proper places, and someone offering to flagellate themselves( bit worrying, that one )

Thanks for your kind words.

We can't please everyone - and Tobago is certainly not an island for everyone - but that equally applies to anywhere/everywhere in the world. I can only hope that this site provides all the information a visitor needs. An hour or two of reading should tell you whether Tobago is 'your sort of place' - and this then extends to your choice of accommodation, dining and every other aspect of your holiday.

Have a brilliant flight and holiday and be sure to come back and offer your honest opinions. Good or bad it will help to make sure that the next new visitor either does themselves a favour and goes to Florida, or risk becoming a Tobagophile, like you.

Not a chance in the world that you won't like Tobago. Anybody who would spend hours perusing this site and forum and find and accept all the nonsense that goes on here is obviously a person open to adventure and new experiences. Therefore you can't help but have a good time.

What's with the Florida comment?

Personally, I had no choice but to do the Mouse Ears routine many years ago when my sons were wee tots, and since then I avoid the place except to fly through Miami for a cruise or Caribbean vacation.

I absolutely LOVE Florida.... but then we all want a break from our routine, and I'm fortunate that my routine IS Tobago!! I can understand why it's not for everyone though, and it's pretty much the antithesis of Tobago, so I guess it stands to reason that if your ideal is here, that the idea of Orlando is unappealing!

My name is Tony and I am an incurable MyTobago addict. My day is not complete without a visit to this site. There, I have said it! God forbid that my internet connection should go down or I would doubtless suffer painful withdrawal symptoms.

Let us be frank Carol, within this community there are some very eccentric individuals who will obsess about virtually any subject that may come up. These are the public face of the MyTobago addiction. And I think they know who they are. The most disturbing thought however, is of the many, silent and invisible daily consumers of these posts such as myself. I too have no interest in fishing, yet find myself reading the details of lines and reels and best locations etc. I avidly consume reviews of hotels and villas that I will never stay in. How clean was the pool? Was there a safety deposit box? How many pans in the kitchen? I can't help myself. I even check the weather every day.

Only once did did a long-running obsessive thread cause me to reply, "Enough already!". And that was the camoulflage pants saga. It ran and ran and spread out to encompass the history of failed military coups in the Caribbean. The agent provocateur in this case, and you may find, in many others seemed to be a certain dude from Bude... allegedly.

I have said enough. I am need of help. Any ideas David? Rehab?

I have told this story before, but not for some time, so apologies to regular ‘old’ readers who have heard it before.

This true story came from a lady I met in Tobago. She told me that prior to their visit she had become increasingly concerned by her husband’s habit of disappearing into his study whenever she announced that she was off to bed. The knowledge that he was choosing his computer in preference to her own not inconsiderable charms irked more than a little. She would lie awake waiting for him, but invariably fell asleep before he came to bed.

She festered over the matter for some time, wondering what her husband was up to down on his computer when everyone else was asleep. It caused considerable unspoken friction between them. She lay in bed getting angrier and angrier.

One night, she had had enough. Determined to catch him at his nefarious activities, she quietly crept downstairs and barged into his office. He was so engrossed that he never even heard her come in. What website was he looking at? You guessed it!

So, Tony, sorry – but there’s no cure.

I know that I'm going to love Tobago (1st visit soon) but feel I must defend Florida. As a single Dad with 4 kids we have been to Florida a few times and absolutely love it. Away from the theme parks (great fun) the countryside is fantastic, the people friendly and it really does offer something for everyone whatever their tastes. certainly better than the Dentist Steve. Having said that, Tobago is a new experience for us and we can't wait to get there. I'm confident that when we return we'll be able to say that we love both Tobago and Florida. Sacrilidge??? Lets have those who have visited both post scores out of 20 for each and see who wins. I'll post mine when we get back

While I won't get into the Florida vs Tobago rating I will say that spending most of my youthful summers on the Florida Panhandle (near Port St. Joe) prepared me for and focused my plans towards a place like Tobago. Some people will prefer Florida and others will want something very different. I want Tobago. In fact I have considered buying in Florida just so I can get to Tobago more quickly in my retirement! It's a long haul from San Francisco.
