Coco Reef watersports

Post by Deb »

:D I've recently discovered this website which is brilliant. We (6 of us) are hoping to come to Coco Reef for the 2nd week of a cricket package which includes Trinidad for the first week, next March.

There's been some excellent reviews and it's really helped us to decide that this is where we want to stay. Having gathered up a large amount of brochures with Coco Reef in, it seems to say that the non-motorised watersports are complimentary whether or not you are staying on a b&b basis or all inclusive. Is this correct?

We will be staying B&B but have been told that we can choose to be AI once we arrive, although, as we're on a bit of a budget it does seem very expensive. I've trawled through some of the forum and there's obviously two ways of looking at this (we've stayed AI before in Bali & Mexico, both of which were excellent, but considerably cheaper than Coco Reef). I think we'd like to see a bit of the Island and would enjoy lively (but not wild!) evenings out with a decent meal choice, preferably international and Tobagonian food options so we're all catered for, so we're thinking that we should stick with B&B.

Any comments re. watersports and recommended places to go would be really useful - we've got the Rough Guide to Trin & Tobago and it sounds quite easy to get about. We're only there for a week and would like to see some of the Island without having to go out every day travelling. What places of interest could we realistically combine to make, say, 4 days out?

Thanks for any information you can provide

Deb :D

Hi Deb

Have you seen our own review of the Coco Reef Resort. If not, have a look (click on the hotel name) and you will see that it gives full details of the All Inclusive package. Yes, it does include complimentary use of non-motorised watersports equipment and the review lists what is available.

Have a look at the topic Anyone holidaying 6 Oct in this sub-forum for full comments on the All Inclusive/Bed & Breakfast debate. A lot also depends upon whether you will have a car for the duration of your stay (recommended). If you haven’t, there is only a limited choice of restaurants within walking distance of the Coco Reef so you will constantly be using taxis.

The same reply applies to your question about seeing the island. Tobago is very small. You can do a full island tour in one day (recommended). After that it is very dependent upon how detailed you want to get in your sightseeing. I can only suggest that you surf the forum and our main myTobago.info site for full details of what is available and what takes your fancy. Four days is ample to combine pretty much most things.

Have a great trip, whatever you decide.
