I'm starting to look into my flight options from Trinidad to Tobago. I've found some great flights on Tobago Express but I'm wondering if the timing is cutting it a little close.
My flight arrives in Trinidad from Toronto at 2.45pm and I can book a Tobago Express that leaves either at 4.35pm or 6.15pm.
My flight leaves Trinidad for Toronto at 3.40pm, and I can arrive in Trinidad at either 12.15pm or 2.25pm.
As for going, I would love to catch the 4.35pm flight but does that give me enough time to get off my incoming plane, deal with customs and make the connector? Or is it best to be patient and wait until 6.15pm?
And in terms of leaving, my best bet does look like arriving in Trinidad for 12.15pm is better than 2.25pm.
Thanks in advance for any input!
Jo-Anne
ps. Steve - This website is the best - thank you so much!

Hi Jo-Anne
I wasn't going to reply, as I have no experience of the route, but in view of your lovely comment, I felt it would be churlish not to at least say Thanks! I am confident that the firm who loves to say Yes will soon offer a reliable answer for you.
Have a great trip.

Hi Jo-anne,
I am flying to Tobago in November and had the same questions as you. Tanja Mohammed at Yes tourism booked the flights for me and answered any worries I had. I am not positive but I believe if you miss the connection you will be put on the next flight with no added charge, whether this is because I booked through Yes or an airline policy I do not know. My flight arrives from Kennedy at 1:43 pm and I am scheduled on the 3:00 pm to Tobago, I figure the quicker I get there (Tobago) the better. On the return my flight to Trinidad leaves Tobago at 9:45 am and my connection leaves at 12:20 pm. so I gave myself a bit more leeway; who would be in a hurry to leave? I hope this helps. Have a great stay! I am going on my honeymoon but I used to enjoy traveling alone quite a bit, then your vacation is truly what you make of it. Good luck!

I just wanted to update everyone as to some great information I was given by Tanja Mohammed with Yes Tourism. I hadn't received any information so though I'd would contact her directly. Tanja has given me permission to share her info:
"I would like to advise you that when arriving in Trinidad you will have to allow a bit of time to clear immigration, then wait for your luggage and then clear customs. If everything goes well you might be out before an hour but if not.......... The check-in for Tobago Express is one hour prior to departure. I feel you will be safest with the 6.15 pm flight because it might happen as well that your plane from Toronto is delayed. If you get out fast you might still be able to get on the 4.35 pm flight via standby that is the next option (unless you travel over the weekend where a lot of Trinis head to Tobago especially over the holidays and over long weekends with public holidays).
As for your return flight please bear in mind that check in in Trinidad for international flights is 2 hours or more prior to departure, the airlines advise usually to be rater earlier than too late, so your best bet would be in my opinion to go with the earlier flight to Trinidad at 12.15 (a lot of times Tobago Express is delayed as well) and better be safe."
Thanks Tanja, and thanks again Steve for providing all of us such a great place to prep for our trips!
