david is about to land in 45 minutes (with a six minute delay...says the virgin page).
his caribs are in the fridge already. I think the first thing he's going to want to do is get the shorts on and hit the "waterwholes" (boathouse and co)...
don't worry, we'll take good care of him here. you can look forward to his daily weather reports...

Carolnoe(nol)

Glad you're feeling better.

Perhaps instead of a key around your neck you could install a keyless entry pad, then the only thing you would need to remember is your four digit code#. We have one on our garage door opener and when i installed it I asked my wife what number could we use that would be easy to remember and she said to use the year I was born. I looked at her and said "are you kidding that's a number I try to forget"

Hello everybody and greetings from sunny Tobago.
The Virgin left 12 minutes late but soon turned into a fast woman, arriving 10 mins early.I was first of the aircraft, first through immigration and second through customs, car booked and away by 1415 Castara by 1515 :D
The weather on arrival consisted of a light shower between Hamden and Calder Hall.Runnymede and the first sight of the azure Caribbean I BACK!A glorious sunset and so early to bed(2 Caribs 1 rum---kn******d!
This morning a beautiful day practically cloudless beautiful blue sea.
Love from Castara,
David :D

david, did you read that paul is gone for a while? you should take over the weather section right away!

noe...I thought about your earring idea later yesterday and figured if your key is too heavy you would look like one of those afrikan tribes soon with ears down to the shoulders... also: how do you want to use a key attached to your ear, imagine that would be a funny sight (or endless fiddling about with it to get it out from the ear and back in)....my advice: go with the neckless!

Greetings from miserable Surrey.
Sky grey, rain grey, faces grey. Sunset at 4.30.
Left work at 3.45pm. Waited until 4.30 for bus. Four rolled up in a convoy. Arrived home 5.30. Expected arrival time at home was 4.30. Cheesed off.
However, received praise at work, and Hubby cooked dinner. Early bedtimed planned. Still k*******d from cold.

that's what busses do for spite...none for an hour and then they come in foursomes... as if they wait for each other behind the corner...
poor carol, but you got dinner from hubby, so not too much to complain.
did not see david except for this morning early on the beach. guess he hit "tong" to buy some bits an pieces for the weekend. scarborough on a friday is a nightmare, so he's not all in heaven
have a good weekend everyone!

Hi All

Just logged on for the first time in two days. Busy, busy. Glad to hear that everyone is OK. Yes the weather is 'orrible here too and the buses do the same on the Isle of Wight. I spend a lot of time on buses 'cos I don't drive and in my job I do a lot of travelling around to residential homes, day centres etc. The waterproofs and big boots are getting a lot of use. Good to hear from you David. Gotta go and cook dinner now...

Evening Tony,
You will no doubt think me very odd (well you probably do already) but I am always pleased when I come across a non driver like myself. I find I get tired of the startled looks and pitying comments when I tell people I don't drive, as if it's a misfortune of some kind.I had six lessons when I was nineteen, hated it, gave up, not been interested in trying again since.
I do feel the occasional pangs of guilt on long journeys when hubby has to do it all though!
See ya brother!

Yes, it's strange the way people react when you tell them isn't it? I failed my test three times in the early 70's and then knocked an old gentleman down whilst driving a 1 ton van across the plains of Northern India without a licence (he was OK, just a bit shaken up, like me). If I had been a better driver I would have missed him, (though at the time it was a choice between him and an overloaded truck coming straight at me out of the heat-haze and in the middle of the road). I've never been behind a steering wheel since. I reckon that there are enough crazy people on the roads without me adding to them. Anyway it says on the slip of paper that comes with my medication (the one that tells you that these tablets have every side effect you could possibly think of and many you have never even heard of), 'do not operate heavy machinery'. Cars are quite heavy I think... man.

I rest my case.

Evening Tony,
You really must start your own thread: " The Adventures of Tony ", subtitled " Memoirs of a Hippy "
And did you know that the warning on medication about driving and operating heavy machinery also appears on children's medication? Along with the usual warnings about alcohol of course.

Hello Little Sis

Ooh now I don't think that having my own thread is a good idea. I would feel a bit too exposed. If it's OK with you I'd rather just hang out here in your lovely, comfy waffle section and pop up every now and then with the odd snippet of information.

I didn't know that about the warnings on childrens medication. My doc always says not to read them but I reckon that's impossible. It's like putting chocolate in the box and expecting you not to eat it.

A little anecdote

Post by Carol Townsend »

Greetings! :D
Have just ordered some Christmas presents on line for the first time!
It took over an hour and my eyeballs have shrivelled up, but oh so much easier than trailing around the shops! I just hope they arrive in good order, on time, and no-one has nicked my card details 8-[
As a little light relief, I thought I'd tell you about the kind of people I work with.
I work in a school for children with special needs, and I am priveleged to have the most dedicated, big hearted and totally bonkers colleagues.
One of them is a big Johnny Depp fan, and has a calendar of him on her classroom wall. Her team hid it in the fridge one day....Why? Search me...
We all now have Christmas trees in our classrooms. What do they have as the fairy on theirs?
A picture of Johnny Depp....
If you're reading this Johnny, I hope you're flattered.
I'll sithee.

Bonkers is good. It's taken me years to find a job where I can use my naturally bonkeristic side and get paid for it.

Mmmmmm..... Johnny Depp....... I've just come over all unnecessary!!

I can thoroughly recommend Xmas Shopping online (sadly a thing of the past these days!!). It certainly beats traipsing round the local town centre elbow to elbow with 20,000 other people! No queueing, no jumping out of the way of mad women with pushchairs (I've been one of those too!), no having to return to the car four times just to empty your arms, only to find that your parking ticket has expired. No trying to leave the car-park after 8 hours to find that out of four exit lanes, only one is working, and by the time you actually REACH the 'pay on exit' desk, you don't have the correct change / can't find the ticket / realise you spent the last of your physical cash on that hard-earned cup of Starbucks....

Give me the world of online shopping every time!! If only I could get them to deliver this far south!

Lisa.

was in trinidad yesterday and it was a night mare...try to grab a turkey out of the freezer (you gotta be fast or they vanish in front of your eyes)...try to get the items advertised in the internet...alll gone already... and then you join the line for the cashier, all your frozen goods in your trolley and it takes an hour until it is your turn and in this case NOT because the cashiers are slow, got used to that meanwhile, but because everyone has two, three, four trolleys full to the top... so that is the reason why you have to search for a trolley to enter the shop in the first place.
would LOOOOVE to shop online, would love not to shop at all, but knowing that the shops are closed for quite sometime over and after christmas you have to stock up on time (especially having a weekend right before christmas... ever tried to shop at penny savers on a saturday? another way to spend a whole day of your vacation for visitors of tobago...a waste of time for people who live here).

will be very happy when chistmas is over ane everything goes back to normal...until carnival beginning of february that is
