Total eclipse of the moon

I'm pretty sure that this is not properly a weather-related subject (although if it's cloudy you won't see it) but there is a total eclipse tonight, and totality should happen with the moon close to its zenith over the Eastern Caribbean, so it could be spectacular.

There's a chart here to show the visibility around the world: totality lasts from 11:00 to 11:51 local time on Tobago (4 hours behind UT).

I may get out of bed at 3 a.m. to have a look from here in the UK, even.

Jonathan, I can look out the window, it is 10:17PM and it is about half way through. Thought it was going to be redder than it is. Hardly any clouds tonight , it does look spectacular, Phil

Good one, Phil. I did get up at 3 a.m., but the clouds had rolled in from the west, bringing to an end the clear weather and sharp frosts that have come with the recent high-pressure weather system. So the moon was totally invisible, and I went back to sleep. 8/8 cloud cover all day here; I hope you have done better!

Hi Guys

We had perfect weather down here in Stonehaven Bay and it was a lovely site - except that everybody got a real pain in the neck from standing there for 20-30 minutes with their head titled back watching the eclipse. The weather couldn't have been better though.

What a two days for aerial experiences - a meteorite shower, the airship and then a full eclipse of the moon. The excitement is killing me. I think I'll have to have a sit down and kill a few Stags.
