The weather down here on Sunday and Monday was not good at alll.Once again could see clear skies up North.Today is rather mixed

Tuesday, C-ville, The weather since last Wed. has been nice up here. It has rained almost every night or early,early AM but the days have been mostly sunny and the seas since Sat. have been calm. Tonight it is almost dead calm in the bay. The vis in the water yesterday and today has been the clearest since the middle of Jan.
The Gas Rig was moved last night to the third spot which is 22 miles out from C-ville and up from the last position.
Doing laundry at Workshop tonight.
The big Tobago International Game Fishing Tournament starts next week on Thursday March 6. For anyone interested http://www.tgft.com has pictures of the past Tournaments. Also at http://www.workshopseatours.net in the photo section there are pictures of last years tournament.

It's raining here and, would you believe it, we had an earthquake yesterday. I believe it was a kind of fanfare to herald the imminent return to these shores of the Tobagonian Dude from Bude.

Well today's posting will be the last from Bellaforma for a while.Here in Carnbee it is fairly overcat but breaking clouds.Once again to the north it looks fine.

Tuesday, C-ville, We have had some really nice weather the last few days. The end of last week the seas picked up a bit but now they have calmed down. The sun has been out most of the days and the water is getting a little bit warmer.
No boats here yet for the International Game Fishing Tournament. We expect them to start arriving tonight. Could be as many as 40 Sportfishing boats. With the seas calm it should be a good tournament. We may see a record Blue Marlin this year. Has to be over 649 lbs. The prise for a record Marlin is a Mercedes Benz. Alot of boats will be going for the big fish.
Yesterday they started paving the road from C-ville to Speyside.
David does it mean something that when you leave the weather changes for the better?

Thursday, C-ville, Today and yesterday were nice all day up until about 6PM then it rained. Phil

Sat., C-ville, Friday and today again were sunny with a 3PM shower today. Having showers in the night but no heavy rains. Phil

Wed., C-Ville, We are getting onto a nice pattern. The days are mostly sunny. The humidity is low, not much rain and the seas are fairly calm in the bay. The wind is strong out in the sea so the waves and rollers are a bit rough. Phil

Wed, 3-19, C-ville, The next day after my last post it rained all day. Since then it has just been really nice. It did rain for about 30 minutes this morning and the seas got a bit rough in the afternoon. Now at 11PM the seas have again calmed down. It is hard to believe how low the humidity has been this year. The only bad thing if you can call it that is the water is a bit cooler than in past years. Phil

Friday,3-21, C-ville, Late yesterday, last night and today the waves breaking on the beach in Man-O-War Bay have been the biggest I have ever seen. Some people who have been coming for over 20 years have said the same thing. I drove down to Castara today. The waves in Parlatuvier were breaking over the end of the jetty. The waves at Englishmans bay last night left a foot of sand in Eula's and today the water was breaking high and running over into the parking lot. Eula's kids had built a sand wall to keep the water out but every time a big wave came it washed half of it away and they had to scramble to build it back up. In Castara some of the waves were 10 to 15 foot breaking on the beach. I have some photos from Brian and Steph's deck which I will try and get on when I am home in a couple of weeks. Steve if you are still here and down south maybe you can confirm this, that in Mt Irvine the waves were 10 meters and maybe bigger and that in Black Rock a house was swept away and in other places some boats broke away and were mashed up. The interesting thing is that out of the Bays and past the reefs the seas are pretty calm. Someone up here said that they had heard that there was an under sea earthquake up in the mid Atlantic that was causing these waves. They are almost like a bunch of tsunami's meaning that they only get big when into the shallow water. Some other people are saying that a whole bunch of unusual weather conditions, pressure, temp, air currents, water currents etc., have combined with the full moon and of course leap year to cause the waves. Hi there, we took some photographs of the waves at Mount Irvine and Stone Haven on Thursday evening. We haven't posted images before so I hope the link works, let me know if it does not! The sea on the Caribbean side has been amazing to watch, I heard that it was due to an Atlantic depression.

Hi David, we haven't seen it like this before. The seas are supposed to continue over the Easter weekend but have dropped a little. We were informed of this event last week by our son who is an avid surfer. It is a shame that he has missed it all as he is back in the UK. We promised him that we would take some photographs but due to the size of the seas we could not safely access the beaches. The waves were so unpredictable. As you know in Tobago, wherever something is 'happening', good or bad, crowds surround the area. At Mount Irvine, tour buses, cars, people on foot together with local TV and press where there to watch the sea. At Stone Haven, the noise from the pounding of the surf was so loud! These high seas have affected other islands too, earlier in the week some yachtsmen reported 25 foot seas.

Hi Guys & Gals

Sorry for my absence, but our daughter and her husband are with us at the moment (leaving later today) and trying to give them a good time whilst getting on with our reviews is meaning I haven't a minute to spare. There are so many good friends I have had to ignore due to lack of time. I can only extend my sincere apologies.

Anyway, yes - I can confirm everything mentioned here. We stopped at the sea wall between Grange Beach and Mount Irvine beach on Thursday night while on our way out for dinner. I really kicked myself for not having brought a camera. You wouldn't believe the size of those monsters. Maybe they just looked worse in the dark, but with the full moon shining and the lights of the cars parked up against the sea wall, it was quite a spectacle. We stopped by on our way back after an excellent meal (as always) at Mot Mot Restaurant and the crowds (including TV crew) had gone and the waves quietened down somewhat. It was still impressive though. In the 50 years that I have been visiting Tobago, I have never seen anything like it.

The Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Service had issued a warning of rough sea conditions starting from last Wednesday evening. They predicted that wave heights of more than 3 metres were to be expected. This is apparently all caused by a deep low pressure system in the North Atlantic which has been moving southward towards the Eastern Caribbean. The amazing thing is that the weather has been gorgeous here this week, although it was particularly hot last weekend when the North East Trade Winds dropped, as Paul predicted.

We are currently at Arnos Vale. The pictures below give you an idea of what it was like on Thursday morning in Plymouth Back Bay – a bay that was perfectly flat and calm 24 hours earlier.
