Re: Returning to Tobago - Good News & Bad News
Hello playmates,
I have just been to visit my son (who is "at Her Majesty's pleasure" as I have mentioned before). What a book I could write about that particular parallel universe
It is definately inhabited by aliens genetically incapable of communicating in sentances or organising a picnic in the park.No I don't mean the inmates
Today, in the search area with Mum in her wheelchair, one of the female variety asked ME "can the lady stand up?"
I do know however that my mother and me both exist in that place because we both have numbers:-23148 and 23149
I digress,Back to "The Stig". My son told me (fits with Steve's info about there being several) that Perry Mc Carthy was "The Stig in Black" between 2001 and 2003.He was dubbed by many in racing circles as "the worlds unluckiest driver" In 2003 he wrote his autobiography entitled Flat Out ,Flat Broke. Recomended as a fabulous book to read for anyone who is into motors n stuff. In these pages he also revealed the identity of the man behind the helmet.Himself
Apparently the programme makers were none too pleased
Soon afterwards whilst racing a Harrier along the deck of an aircraft carrier "The Stig" and his motor hurtled off the end into the drink, never to be seen again
When Jeremy and the team had adjusted to thier loss a new mystery man was recruited and "Stig in White" was born
Time for a snack. Must keep my strength up for that strange NHS place Tomorrow
Bewitched of Letchworth
( my paternal grandmother came from Pendle where white whichcraft is still practiced
)

Is this the" acerbic sense of humour" you told us about?
Bill, you have created" Waffle ll ". Congratulations! I knew you had it in you!
I have created another email address, which I have tested and it seems to be OK:
Erm, I've forgotten why I wanted to talk to you now....
Gill, so the question is, do you practise witchcraft? or should that be Wicca?
I understand about your mum; my sister-in -law is a wheelchair user and finds that some people assume that because her body doesn't work her brain doesn't either. I think some people recoil from disability; almost as if they might catch it! I work in a school for disabled children- don't get me started!!!
They won't be there today- teachers' strike.

Sis
How strange that you should mention the theme from the Twighlight Zone (which goes, doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo) 'cos I attempted to upload an mp3 of it as an attachment but received a message in RED telling me that I couldn't do that. So... this site is not as 'all-singing, all-dancing' as I thought it was.

Noe,
I am not quite sure
. I had to go in straight away to open an extra theatre and didn't come home till 4am
Did I bring that on myself?. Tales of the unexpected? I quite like that music. The boys probably like the sexy swaying lady in silhouette
I have certainly been known to concoct a potion or two to "make people better" but I think that is just called being a mum.
Anyway I have had my sleeping time now so I can go back to work at 5pm to make up my shift hours for today
Ps,A friend of mine has a witch called Hazel and mine,is called Doris. She flies in the corner of my kitchen
Besom at the ready

Coo - Tales of the Unexpected! There's a blast from the past... or Tales of the Totally Predictable as it became known after about the third episode. Just take the most unlikely scenario, and there's your plot! The music was very good though, as you say Gill!
Then there was Sapphire and Steele, and if you can remember the theme music to that, I'm TRULY impressed!!!
Lisa.

It's probably a copywright thing!
Lisa,
I loved Sapphire and Steele! But I can't remember the tune either!
Gill,
Double, double toil and trouble,
Fire burn and cauldron bubble!
David,
Yes I (vaguely)remember Tales of The Unexpected; including the tune and the dancer.
And does Steve allow lust on this site?
Bill

As stange as "Waffle" is at times I'm proud to see that "Waffle II" has already surpassed anything we were able to achieve over there.
I can picture us all on the beach at Castara at midnite - A huge bonfire, voodoo drums, wild dancing, strange incantations and of course plenty of
Noe,
Sent an e-mail to the latest address, hopefully it will go through.

Hey, I thought you were the musician! doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo is clearly the theme from The Dambusters. Well, it was when I copied it out. Now it seems to be the "Alle Menschen werden Brüder" bit from Beethoven's 9th.Tony G wrote: How strange that you should mention the theme from the Twighlight Zone (which goes, doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo)

Re: Returning to Tobago - Good News & Bad News
It's strange how the great tunes become ingrained, isn't it! I can recall The Dambusters, and Tales of the Unexpected, and to keep to a TV theme, I can't listen to The Valkyries without breaking into "Kill Da Waaaabbit" in an Elmer Fudd voice... and for anyone interested, I found the intro to Sapphire and Steele on YouTube (I have waaaay too much time on my hands!!).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gjHmEUiaxo . I'm getting all neuralgic! That's where you miss something so much your teeth hurt, apparently! In this case, my youth!
I just knew I should have taken that left turn at Albequerque....
Lisa.

Tony and Lisa,
Isn't Youtube wonderful? You can find anything on it. I now remember the themes from The Twilight Zone and Sapphire and Steel. Can't remember actually seeing the Twilight Zone though, nor can I remember why I liked Sapphire and Steele so much!
The other day my daughter was talking about eating peanuts( can't remember why) so I looked for the Peanut Vendor Song on Youtube, and found it, but not, alas, in English!
Bill,
I have sent you a short e mail, plus one that would do War and Peace proud. Well, you know what I'm like .
So folks, Bill now knows all my secrets....
Have a lot more to say on various things, but too tired now.
Night night

Re: Returning to Tobago - Good News & Bad News
Hi Noe,
Is that the one that went PEAAAANUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTSSSS (Golden Wonder, They're Jungle-Fresh....)??! Ah, for the days of Pearl & Dean adverts at the cinema (another theme tune that will stay with me forever!), Saturday morning pictures, a drink, some sweets and only one shiny silver coin needed, and usually enough change to get the bus home!
There's that nostalgia thing back again.... sigh!!

Re: Returning to Tobago - Good News & Bad News
Lisa,
Yes that was it; but I didn't remember about Golden Wonder using it. Is it because you are now an ex-pat that you are remembering all these things?
Bill,
You should be proud of this thread; I think it may eventually surpass Waffle One
Speaking of Voodoo drums on Castara beach at midnight, I do remember seeing somewhere that there is an ancient religion like Voodoo, or Wicca, that is still practised in the Caribbean, brought over from Africa during the slavery days. I tried googling various questions about it, but can't seem to find the name of it.I daresay someone who is more adept at googling than me will find it, or doubtless Professor Watkins will know....
Anyway, as Gill said, the scenario does sound rather fun. But Gill, did you have to mention skinny dipping? Honestly, you nurses!
Anyway, need to check up on Waffle One.
By the way, if you noticed that I'm posting obscenely early, it's because I'm very restless at the moment and can't sleep, so I'm on here before my son chains himself to the machine. I'm thinking of asking my computerologist friend to organise a laptop of my very own, with a password!

Noe,the religion you refer to is called Obiah(Obia,Obe or Obi)and is practiced all over the Caribbean area including Tobago.Peculiarly, the Obiah-men hold the Celts in high esteem.

Thanks, as soon as I saw the word I recognised it. It was one of those things you stumble across when researching something else, and now I'm trying to remember what that was!
