I have just been to visit my son (who is "at Her Majesty's pleasure" as I have mentioned before).What a book I could write about that particular parallel universe It is definately inhabited by aliens genetically incapable of communicating in sentances or organising a picnic in the park.No I don't mean the inmates Today, in the search area with Mum in her wheelchair, one of the female variety asked ME "can the lady stand up?" I do know however that my mother and me both exist in that place because we both have numbers:-23148 and 23149
I digress,Back to "The Stig". My son told me (fits with Steve's info about there being several) that Perry Mc Carthy was "The Stig in Black" between 2001 and 2003.He was dubbed by many in racing circles as "the worlds unluckiest driver" In 2003 he wrote his autobiography entitled Flat Out ,Flat Broke. Recomended as a fabulous book to read for anyone who is into motors n stuff.In these pages he also revealed the identity of the man behind the helmet.Himself
Apparently the programme makers were none too pleased Soon afterwards whilst racing a Harrier along the deck of an aircraft carrier "The Stig" and his motor hurtled off the end into the drink, never to be seen again
When Jeremy and the team had adjusted to thier loss a new mystery man was recruited and "Stig in White" was born

I understand about your mum; my sister-in -law is a wheelchair user and finds that some people assume that because her body doesn't work her brain doesn't either. I think some people recoil from disability; almost as if they might catch it! I work in a school for disabled children- don't get me started!!!

How strange that you should mention the theme from the Twighlight Zone (which goes, doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo) 'cos I attempted to upload an mp3 of it as an attachment but received a message in RED telling me that I couldn't do that. So... this site is not as 'all-singing, all-dancing' as I thought it was.

Well , before I had finished eating the afore said snack (nice bit of chicken breast in wholemeal roll) work phoned . I had to go in straight away to open an extra theatre and didn't come home till 4am Did I bring that on myself?. Tales of the unexpected? I quite like that music.The boys probably like the sexy swaying lady in silhouette
I have certainly been known to concoct a potion or two to "make people better" but I think that is just called being a mum.
Anyway I have had my sleeping time now so I can go back to work at 5pm to make up my shift hours for today

Coo - Tales of the Unexpected! There's a blast from the past... or Tales of the Totally Predictable as it became known after about the third episode. Just take the most unlikely scenario, and there's your plot! The music was very good though, as you say Gill!

Then there was Sapphire and Steele, and if you can remember the theme music to that, I'm TRULY impressed!!!

Hey, I thought you were the musician! doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo is clearly the theme from The Dambusters. Well, it was when I copied it out. Now it seems to be the "Alle Menschen werden Brüder" bit from Beethoven's 9th. Maybe I don't read music as well as I thought, which is really bad news, because I actually only read music by counting Every Good Boy Deserves Fruit along the stave. On some days, I don't even move my lips.

Sorry, I just had to have two penn'orth of this thread before Steve catches up with us fooling around out of the playpen again.

It's strange how the great tunes become ingrained, isn't it! I can recall The Dambusters, and Tales of the Unexpected, and to keep to a TV theme, I can't listen to The Valkyries without breaking into "Kill Da Waaaabbit" in an Elmer Fudd voice... and for anyone interested, I found the intro to Sapphire and Steele on YouTube (I have waaaay too much time on my hands!!).

Isn't Youtube wonderful? You can find anything on it. I now remember the themes from The Twilight Zone and Sapphire and Steel. Can't remember actually seeing the Twilight Zone though, nor can I remember why I liked Sapphire and Steele so much!
The other day my daughter was talking about eating peanuts( can't remember why) so I looked for the Peanut Vendor Song on Youtube, and found it, but not, alas, in English!

Ah, for the days of Pearl & Dean adverts at the cinema (another theme tune that will stay with me forever!), Saturday morning pictures, a drink, some sweets and only one shiny silver coin needed, and usually enough change to get the bus home!

Speaking of Voodoo drums on Castara beach at midnight, I do remember seeing somewhere that there is an ancient religion like Voodoo, or Wicca, that is still practised in the Caribbean, brought over from Africa during the slavery days. I tried googling various questions about it, but can't seem to find the name of it.I daresay someone who is more adept at googling than me will find it, or doubtless Professor Watkins will know....
Anyway, as Gill said, the scenario does sound rather fun. But Gill, did you have to mention skinny dipping? Honestly, you nurses!
Anyway, need to check up on Waffle One.
By the way, if you noticed that I'm posting obscenely early, it's because I'm very restless at the moment and can't sleep, so I'm on here before my son chains himself to the machine. I'm thinking of asking my computerologist friend to organise a laptop of my very own, with a password!
