Why thank you Gary, and may I welcome you to the waffle in Queen Noe's absence.

Everything seems to have gone very quiet around here? either it is Noes absence, or everyone is too busy enjoying to the sunshine. Time to introduce a topic for conversation, how does everyone cope with the withdrawal symptoms between visits to Tobago?

Hi Linda

I can't remember who/when, but some time during the past week a forum member mentioned the flags and that reminded me that I'd never got round to moding the new forum software to allow the facility. Anyway, users can choose their flag by clicking on the User Control Panel link above and then selecting a new flag in the Profile tab. Enjoy!

That would have been me, I think, and I see that Cornwall is in the drop-down list too! I'll stick with the union flag, though, notwithstanding that Cornwall is the land of my birth. I haven't lived there for, umm,(pause for calculation), crikey! Thirty three years!

Thanks for putting the flags back: I think they're a nice touch on such a cosmopolitan site as this.

Hi Jonathan

I remember now. Thanks for reminding me about the flags, even though I know you mentioned it in reference to something else, not as a 'complaint'.

Yes, I find it an invaluable facility seeing where someone is from. It can have a major influence on replies to questions they might ask.

Hi Linda
Think you are right,so good to see the sun we are all making the most of it. Have spent today out in the garden - now back killing me so once I can move again will have a long bath and hope the bottle chilling in the fridge will ensure I can move tomorrow ! That's my excuse anyway.

Ok, Queen Noe is not there and I have an actual story to tell... Hope my English is good enought. If not, sorry guys

Tuesday evenig and I finished work. Went outside with a colleague on the way to our cars. I was searching my backpack for the car key while walking and missed a big flower tub on the ground. Run into it and flew right over it. I hit the ground with my nose and lay down like a fallen angel. #-o Three guys and my colleague around and my nose was bleeding like hell. One gave me a kleenex and they wanted to help me up. "No thanks, guys I just want to lay down here..." I was so ashamed I couldn't look nobody in the eye. After a while they helped me up and ask if I'm OK. "Yes thanks, I'm fine". Kleenex pressed on my nose and walking towards my car. My colleague supportet me to my car to make sure I don't stumble again and I went home. This evening I had an appointment with some friends in Cologne I didn't wanted to miss. So I washed my face, put a little plaster on the scarf and took the train. I had a couple of beers that night (unfortunately no Carib) and felt OK. The next morning I couldn't move! Every bone hurts. Contusions all over my body. Even sneezing hurts badly to my ribs. :( Blue dots all over my arms and knees.
Maybe that Tuesday evening my body was full of adrenalin so I did not feel any pain. The next morning it was gone :?
Well, I will survive because next week I'm going to Tobago and this will keep me up :D I only hope my nose will be OK then.

Cheers

Good Afternoon from the bots and me,

Shorty,

Sorry to hear about your fall. Hopefully you'll feel fine by the time you get to Tobago.

Sandra,

I know what you mean about gardening, we have quite a large lot and this time of year I feel that the work will never end. This year we finally decided to rip out all the overgrown scraggly shrubs in front of the house and redo the area under our living room and dining room windows with new perennial gardens. We just finished up this past weekend and along with all the rest of the spring work I'm ready to collapse.

Linda,

Gisela, I find that Carib and rum both make excellent pain killers. Hopefully we will bump into each other in a couple of weeks, just make sure you never take your my Tobago hat off and I can't miss you, or look out for my tattoo.

Sandra, if you have finished your garden can you come and do mine please? [-o< we built a conservatory and had to dig out loads of ground for the footings, so I decided to throw it all on the garden rather than get a skip to remove it as I thought it would help to level my sloping garden. Hmm well we now have a mountain out there and never seem to have time to level it out #-o

Bill, I always find that it works for me too %*}

About the Bots, I have to be careful as there are four of them here at the moment, so they may be reading this. Have you ever considered how secretive they are, if you check up on them, they are usually 'browsing', but occasionally one of them is 'replying to a message', have you ever seen a comment posted by a Bot? :? wouldn't you think after this long one of them would be tempted to type a message that was not in invisible ink :? I have a feeling Mr Watkins and his Special Branch chums are involved somewhere, as the Bots also keep you company this is obviously a global conspiracy, expect a call from the FBI if you post anything too controversial.

Hi All

I too have been busy with the garden. Just been out to open the greenhouse and found that yesterday's rain has brought out the snails who have feasted all night on my seedlings. Aah well, what can you do eh?

Gisela, are you OK? It sounds like you took quite a tumble. Perhaps you should get checked out by your doctor.

Oh Gisella, and that was BEFORE you had a Carib or rum!!!!!!?I hope you are ok.

Bill B,funnny you should say things about Special Branch, whenever I check stats on my website I often get US Government,Langley :-$ :-$

Tony G,when I used to do a lot of gardening I found the best way to sort slugs and snails was to have a trap for them a distance (1yard or so) away from the plants you want to protect. The trap itself is very siimple, sink an old fashioned enamel or tin pie dish that has a flat rim and is a couple of inches deep into the soil. From your local pub get some beer dregs(not lager)from the drip trays,or buy some beer if you wish, filll the trap nearly to the brim. This will attract the gastropods, who will drink the beer, get drunk, fall in and die!!Honestly

Aha! So, now we begin to see the truth of it!! David's starting with the slugs and snails! Obviously this is where the training begins with MI6 or CI5 (starts singing The Professionals music now!) and they work up from there! In a couple of weeks, he'll be telling us how to dismember your adversary using only one finger!!

Watching with awe and trepidation....

Hi All,

due to the fact that I'm not that tall (maybe thats the reason they call me Shorty in Tobago #-o I did not fall too deep.... and Yes, I'm fine :D It was a shock in the first moment and a big pain the next day but in between I recover quick. Especially with the knowing of having 9 days left to take off to Tobago :D :D :D

I wish I had a garden. I only own a balcony with a lot of plants. You have to replace them once in a while when they stop blooming. When I had a garden years ago I loved to work in it as an alternative to my office job.

Linda, I'm shure we will bump into each other and have a couple of Carib then 8)

Cheers
Gisela

PS: David, I didn't had any beer or rum when I fall  I had the beer after it

Greetings,

As I'm writing this I'm on line with real people (Lisa & Gill) =D> and of course a couple of bots.

We've used the beer in a pan method to keep the slugs away from our Hostas and it does work. We buy cans of some cheap undrinkable swill and pour half into the pie pan for the slugs and then use the half can that's left to grill "Beer Can" Chicken

Shorty, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Hi All,

Gary, I'm sorry but my suitcase is full of gifts for my friends over there but there are cheap flights from Germany (550 €).
Bill, good to hear you have nice company. Do you think the beer pan method will work on the mossies in tobago also? But I really hesitate to wast Carib or Stag on this. Maybe I find some bad tasting foreign beer there

Greetings to all bots

Gisela,

We have just booked for next year & got cheap flights with XL @ £408 each (514 €uro) from London/Gatwick. Wonder how long that will last with the fuel prices as they are ?

9 days eh . . . Lucky you 8)
