Greetings Fellow Wafflers! :D

Did you miss me? Altogether now-"Yes Ma'am!"
Are you glad I'm back?- "Yes Ma'am!"
OK that's the formalities over.

Well I must say I'm very impressed at how the Waffle thread has kept bubblin'; in fact I don't think you need me at all so I may as well retire.
I must confess I opened the door with some trepidation; the last time I went on holiday for a few days back in October I returned to find that He Who must Be Obeyed had changed the layout of the forum, but this time I'm pleased to see he's just re-introduced the flags.

I see quite a lot has been happening;
Bill has formed a new band; "Bill and the Bots". When is your album coming out Bill? Or should that be "Pepper and the Pots?" That ages me; these days bands, or pop groups, don't call themselves "so and so and the whatsits" any more do they?
And I love "Brandy La Harpe". Very um, Bohemian!

Shorty,
I hope your nose and various bruised bits are fully recovered after your World Record attempt at Solid Ground Diving. There is an English saying: "take more water with it!" I love your description of the "fallen angel"; what an intriguing picture that brings to mind.

Agent 0061/2 Watkins, I'm pleased you have as good as admitted to belonging to Special Branch.
I must thank you for keeping the fog away so I had both my helicopter flights, although the return flight was delayed by fog at Penzance, but we still made it in time for our train back to smelly old London.
I looked for a man dressed in a chef's uniform and wearing a Stig helmet waving his arms around at Penzance Heliport but you are obviously a cunning master of disguise as I never saw you, unless you were hiding behind a bush. I had imagined people saying " Who is that strange man wearing a chefs uniform and Stig helmet?" Then I could say "Ah, that's Agent 0061/2 Watkins. Don't worry; he's harmless enough". Never mind, some other time maybe...
Back to Bill and the bots. Bill, the only way to join us all "live" is to: get up in the middle of the night, or not go to bed at all, or move to Britain, or that place that Mr Bush has never heard of called "Europe", or, as I have told you before, stop working so hard man!

Those bots do need watching. Have you noticed those little ads that appear when we waffle about a particular subject? Recently I've seen them related to the Isles of Scilly, for example. Have there been any for slug pellets at all Bruv? There will be!
Let's see if we can think of something really bizarre to get them going. Need time to think...
That's all for now folks, mountains of washing and junk mail to sift..
Love
Noe
Will tell you all about my hols in agonising detail soon.

Good to have you back Sis.

I have discovered organic slug pellets. They don't harm the other wildlife and have been keeping the slugs and snails at bay very successfully.

I'm not a happy bunny today. Just checked what Virgin are charging to fly to Tobago next Jan/Feb and it's £617. Last year we only paid £380 each. It is looking like I may be priced out of my holiday. I would go with XL if they flew direct but 11hrs in a packed metal tube is just too long for me - even to paradise. Ho hum, what to do?

Anyway, the sun is shining and there is work to be done and as usual I am running late.

Tony

Tony, give it time, the price usually drops as the flight gets closer and the package holidays haven't been filled

Morning Bruv,
That's a blow isn't it, £1234 just to get the two of you there? That would be £1851 for the three of us! (Son would pay for himself, if he came)
Didn't I read somewhere that XL were going to scrap the stopover at Grenada, or was I dreaming?
Or, try my alternative paradise; the Isles of Scilly! OK the weather isn't exactly reliable, and the North Atlantic may be a mite cooler than the Caribbean, but I guarantee you will relax there!
Chin up, keep trying!

Kevin,
I'm afraid I can't take part in your competition, as I don't have a My Tobago hat!
As for your project, there is the Mermaid Hotel in St Marys on Scilly. I was going to approach the owners for sponsorship, but unfortunately I had no time as the boat returning to Tresco was about to leave.
Perhaps I can e mail them...
Must go
Noe

Hi Noe
So good to have you back. As you are now well rested I assume many tales will follow - keep 'em coming!

Tony
Forget organic slug pellets, where have you been ? Order your nematodes and relax - this coming from a gardener that has ideas way above her station, but promise they work and totally enviromentally friendly. Shall I see you at Chelsea this week ?

Hi Sandra

I did consider nematodes but, as compared to the ferrous phosphate pellets, they are really expensive and I have no particular desire to wipe out all the slugs and snails in my garden, after all, they must be there for a reason even if I have no idea what that reason is. No, you won't find me at Chelsea. I did go to Hampton Court a few years ago and I realised then that I have very little interest in looking at those expensive, temporary show gardens and even less interest in crowds. I love to visit proper gardens but that for me is about quiet wandering in peaceful surroundings. I don't think I would get much quiet wandering done at Chelsea and the surroundings, I am sure, would be far from peaceful. Anyway if you go - enjoy! Don't take any notice of me, I'm just a grouchy old gardener.

David. Yes that's what I did last year. But what with the ever increasing price of fuel I am pretty pessimistic. That said I will be regularly checking the Virgin Atlantic website.

And a Good Morning to you Sis

Tony

Bruv,
Yet another thing we have in common!
Humans are the most destructive creatures on the planet and we have no right to annihilate another species just because it happens to be in our way. Everything has its place and we depend on other creatures in ways we don't always understand. If a creature is a "pest" it's because we made it so! I never kill anything; wasps, slugs, mice, if I can avoid it. Anyway, some slugs, the black ones I think, don't harm plants at all. Ask Bill Oddie!
Right, that's my little diatribe done.
My hubby took me to the Chelsea Flower Show once. Never again! Although it was the evening of the last day it was heaving with people, and being short I couldn't see a darn thing! Hubby had to lift me up so I could see; me weighing a mere eight stone then.
Those were the days..

Just come home and found that my beloved son has used a photo of me on Tresco as wallpaper for this computer. I'm wearing crop trousers and walking boots, which my hubby was very rude about, but i don't care; I think I've lost weight. :D
Cooking dinner now
Love Sis

I have a perfect deterrant for slugs, our garden was over-ran with them, then we bought some ducks, they ate all of the slugs in no time, loved them, I think they are the duck equivalent of chewing gum! However, once they had finished eating the slugs, they moved on to the rest of my garden! Within two months they had eaten everything within reach apart from solitary heather and a lonely conifer. We gave up, and built a 'duck run' to contain them, however the slugs have only just started to return to the garden (so have the plants).

Welcome back Your Majesty,

I'm tone deaf, have no sense of rythym and can't carry a tune so would never have been able to form a band back in the days when they they were typically named "So & So and the Whatsits". Of course based on the current "music" that the kids enjoy perhaps it's not too late to start a new career  Perhaps named something like "Maggotty Slime Weasel" or some other name that couldn't be repeated in a forum such as this.

Bill
Can't wait to be "limin"
