Have now had a drink,a rather good Montagny as it happens. Called "kitchen people" and explained my paranoia- correction, my need for further endorsements. Twelve phone calls in fifty minutes extolling the wonders of "my new kitchen" - now I'm truly scared.

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
Sorry Sandra,
Might have kept quiet if I'd known you were having your kitchen done. I'm sure everything will be OK. To be fair, some of the delays were due to the factory, and our walls are shocking!
That's what we should have done; asked for endorsements from other customers, but the friend who recommended them is the sort of person who would take months doing research before undertaking anything, so we trusted his judgement. His conservatory is lovely, maybe they do conservatories better than windows!
Believe it not, that was the first major work we've ever undertaken except the kitchen, which was done by our carpenter friend, who takes great pride in his work, and I just wish he did bathrooms!
Best of luck with the kitchen. Tell us about it when it's all done.

Aah Sis
Thank you for another wonderful story of everyday Wimbledon folk. It read like one episode in a long-running sitcom.
Got to go. I take an autistic friend out for lunch on fridays. He doesn't like me to be late.

Enjoy your lunch Bruv,
I understand about your autistic friend. I expect he doesn't like you to be early either, or change the arrangements.
Have you read "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time"? It's written from the point of view of an autistic boy, and is brilliant.

Re: 1000th poster!!
Hi all,
I have replied in here as David is right it shouldn't be in What Currency to Take thread?
When Linda P posted it said 999, correct, but that was the replies to Carol's original post on this thread. Therefore with the original post and the replies, Linda P is the 1000th poster!
Now please send Linda her the prize ( A night out with the *Cheif Anorak, *Bude Cool Boy, *Brad Pitt, please delete as appropriate) and let that be the end of it

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
Noe, GOODBYE
I really hope you did'nt mean that
, I'm missing you already. You are not metaphoricaly standing in the corner on your own you know
In fact the corner is'nt big enough, we'll have to use the whole room
.
I was about to tell you that when I lived in Tooting many years ago after I was first married and worked as a District nurse I had patients in Earlsfield, Colliers Wood, Mitcham, Tooting Bec and Streatham.I had a big green Morris Oxford estate car at the time which was great 'cos it was big and very shiny with lots of chrome. Her name was Esmerelda and of course I was very fond of her.She was great at stopping the other traffic at junctions. If I let her keep rolling slowly people always let her out. She was usually bigger than them
Or maybe it was the Gladys Emanuelle effect of me in the uniform complete with hat that stopped them in thier tracks
.Either way I did'nt usually get held up.I went past Wimbledon football ground every day but didn't get as far over as the tennis club so often.
I used to go window shopping to Wimbledon sometimes just to gaze at properties and other things way out of my reach. As newly weds an inexpensive night out was a trip to Wimbledon stadium (not far from our maisonette) to watch speedway or stock car racing and have a couple of drinks before picking up fish and chips on the way home.We certainly knew how to live
Funny how little parallels crop up is'nt it.
Love n hugs

Come on woman, get a grip, one small criticism does not a cloth and ashes make. We all love you. Well, to be honest ,love is the wrong word, far too American, but you get my drift. Expect to hear from you within 24 hours or , sad to say, will have to mobilise the search party, and they don't come cheap.

To add my two penn'eth (sp?!)
I noticed the Goodbye and thought it sounded very final, but Noe - you can't let a small smack on the wrist stop you from being Queen of Waffle! We've all (or most of us, anyway!) been guilty of going off topic from time to time, but that's exactly what THIS thread is for! You have your very own one! We shouldn't as David, Steve, Phil and others have pointed out, do that with other threads. This is a great website, informative and friendly, and we shouldn't be able to just waffle anywhere... but when there is one string that's dedicated to exactly what we're all so good at... it'd be a pity to let it go to waste!
Lisa.

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
Noe, If Steve had a big problem with Waffle full stop, he would hardly have made you Queen of Waffle!!! I fully agree that we should not let waffle take over other trhreads, but in it's right place long may it continue, we need our Queen to keep us entertained!!
Kevin, Yes I suppose that does make me 1000th poster
, I have considered the choice of prizes on offer, Brad Pitt, though very tempting, may be a tad busy changing nappies at the moment, so I will give him a miss. Mr Wooler is also a good option, his contacts in Tobago would make him a very useful prize - but the beard is a problem (sorry boss), I will have to accept the Bude Cool Boy as my prize, the reasons are simple, he can cook, he appears to be single, he drinks white rum - so my old oak will be relatively safe and I would have an excuse for a holiday in Cornwall to collect my prize

I'm confused
I know that the bots spy on us and read the posts to decide which ads to place, but how come sometimes when I check who is online, it says 'google adsense - posting a messager in Medium sized hotels' I have never read the messages posted by bots, do they start to type, then change their minds?

Bill
Just logged on as forgot to log out. See you are here so would just ask you to plead with Carol to come back. S""t hit fan it would appear, all a storm in a teacup but the Queen has taken it to heart, I am assuming you have read the "Serious" thread so ..... Don't say it I agree.

Ok folks!
Have put the toys back in the pram and recovered from my nervous breakdown. There are reasons why I've been so over-sensitive to criticism which I'm not sure I should discuss in public.
Got to go to work today, and this evening my son will be chained to the computer so not much waffle time today.
Bill and Steve, thanks for your emails, you lovely people. Bill, I found yours in the spam box! Poor Bill!

Noe,
Glad you're back.
Spam, huh
It appears that the UK still hasn't gotten over it and dumps the former colonies into the 'Trash Box'

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
So Gill,
You once lived in glorious Tooting then?
I assume you were based in St. Georges hospital. We lived on the border of Wimbledon and Colliers Wood, in a one -bedroomed flat in Norman Road to be precise, near what is now Savacentre and the world (well, maybe not World) famous Merton Abbey Mills. I wish you hadn't mentioned Gladys Emmanuel. I know from your photo you're not like her, but I now have this image in my mind....
Sorry Bill- having escaped from the spam folder you're probably lost again!
And I'm afraid you're still going to be lost, as that word you coined-"DUBLODE", reminds me of the late great "Professor" Stanley Unwin, who I'm sure the more mature Brits (like me) will remember.
There is a website for him of course, and you can find him on Youtube reading "Goldiloppers and the three bearloaders".
Deep joy, oh yes.
Cheery-bye and a wavy handlode.(or something like that)
