"must do"
Hi. We'll be travelling to Tobago (Castara) for two weeks in Feb. I know it's early yet but, what would you recommend as the one thing we "must do" while we are there? Never too early to do some planning you know? (Especially when we booked back in April!)
Thanks for any suggestions.
Glen

Hi Glen,
David says it all
And he knows the best. The only thing I would add is: snorkeling at "little bay"
Enjoy

PS: David, I envy you so much!

I would say. Find The Iceman from Bloody Bay, he is coming on the beach in Castara, selling Ice Cream. also called Ice Cream king Mann.
The first time we was in Castara we talk with him on the beach, and the day after he took us in rain Forest, where turists normally not are going, and we were there the whole day. What an expirience.
After that he took us to Argyle waterfall, and on the park place his sister was selling some home made cake, and what a cake, mums.
Sinca that time, we have spend many many hours with him. He is a very lovely mann, and he told us about everything in the Forest , it was so amazing.
5½ weeks to go yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Thanks all for the replies. Any other suggestions? Maybe further afield from Castara?

Book a sail with Island Girl. You won't regret it. It was truly the highlight of our trip. Two snorkel spots, lunch on the Island Girl and all the drink you want. Cost was $80 US per person and it was the absolute best. It is an all day sailing adventure.
Also, if you are into snorkeling other than the spots Island Girl took us to we found Arnos Vale the best.
Bago's is a good meal on Pigeon Point Rd. Close at 6 p.m. though during the week and the best prices. Good deep fried fish and chips. Yum..Yum
If you have a rental car as we did, then for sure take a trip up the Atlantic and down the Caribbean coast. Slow driving though and watch the potholes. Be sure to visit Scarborough the Capital. Also the new mall is very reasonable priced. I needed sunglasses and got them for 80 cents. Remarkable... Gas was also $2 U.S. per gallon.

Re: "must do"
Sorry but another Castara must do!
Every Friday night there is a BBQ and lime with a DJ in the street at Andrews place opposite the community centre. $40TT a plate. Mixed drinks can be scarily strong and then you start dancing in the street! Well that is what you went for did you not?
South end of Pirates Bay great snorkling within 20 yards of the beach. Well worth the hike
North End of the Little Bay at Castara ditto.
AND also in Castara
Why not help pull in the seine nets, a great feeling. Don't watch, get in there and help! The scene is timeless and it is better than working out.
Homemade ice cream outside Miss Merlines on a Friday evening along with chicken foot souse if you can take it...................................!

Re: "must do"
And yet another Castara "Must Do"!!
Every Sunday night Ancle George at the Naturalist Beach has a great BBQ. Lots of great dishes cookup up by his staff. Plus great fish, pork chops and chicken cooked on an open grill. Then some great pan music followed by African drumming. I can't quote a price, since we haven't been there in 2 yrs. Check at the Cafe Delite and sign up.

Re: "must do"
Wow. Have been away for a couple of days and was happy to see all the responses! Thanks to all. They say anticipation of a trip is half the fun. We will be sure to get together with the other couple we're travelling with to discuss the suggestions you've mentioned. Though it makes me a little sad that I'm wishing winter would hurry up and arrive so we can get closer to our trip. The grass is always greener they say but I know it will be a lot greener in Tobago than Saskatchewan in Feb.
Thanks again.
Glen
