This will be my first trip to Tobago, while I'm there I really want to go up to the forest (day trip). Question is to whether to have the Yellow Feaver jab or not?

I know I should go by Health advice, but wondered if I have the jab, is there any 'side effects'?

Hi Sue.
The UK Gov. website will tell you that there is NO risk of Yellow Fever on Tobago.
Slight risk on Trinidad.

We've been to Tobago three times and although a few jabs are recommended we have never been told to have yellow fever.
We went to Kenya last year and had to have yellow fever but the only side effect was to my husbands wallet. At £50 a jab for a family of five we had to take out a second mortgage !!

I wasnt recommended yellow fever vaccine when i went either (had to take it anyway to enter from Venezuela but there you go).

Unless there is an anti-liming jab(Oh Forbid) you don't need anything.
Just sun protection and something for the noseeums

You do not need yellow fever vaccination. I strongly recommend having a good hepatitis A protection since there is a real risk of getting that outside of Europe. 2 shots of Havrix will protect You against that for 10 years. I would also take an oral anti ETEC vaccine every 2-3 years because that lessens the risk of tourist diarrhoea considerably. Other than that, nothing is needed.
