Apparently I have a nil credit rating, well, good to know I suppose. Wouldn't want to be buying something for a tenner I can not hope to pay for. Honestly took me ages to place an order for this publication - even as our Queen I feel this is beyond the call of duty. Either dub me now or I'm off to Utopia ,good enough until your head gets cut off as Sir Thomas Moore found !
Seriously, well done, stand proud, and ,if like me, loud.

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
Sandra,
I know the postage costs are horrendous.
I've read comments on the writers forum that placing an order is too complicated, and I wonder if that puts people off as well as the postage? I've had something like 150 hits so far, and 10 sales!
Anyway, I don't want to bankrupt you!
I might look into buying an ISBN which means the book could eventually appear in shops and libraries if I work at it, but that could cost me £80 or so!
I self-published as an experiment really, to save the soul-destroying slog of finding a publisher who reject 999 submissions per 1000.
I'll pass your comments to Lulu, mentioning no names of course...
Love
Noe

Ps
Sandra,
How about downloading it? I'd rather sell the book, but if that's better for you?
I've never done anything like that, but if you want to give it a bash...

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
Dear Queen Noe,
I'm deeply impressed and proud to own a book writen by you. I received it yesterday and read the whole evening. Its great! But especially for Tobagophiles I guess. Will order two more books to bring for Jackson (who is - with his wife Emris - one of my best friends on Tobago) and Overload (Loadie) when I go there in March. If they have a book already then I can give mine to Duck and Doris (Denzil). I think I would find it funny to be protagonist of a book....
Maybe some people will get scared because of you description of mossie bites and the machineel tree but on the other side they should know all these things when they go there
The house was Hummingbird Heaven? My friends lived there in February 2007 for our Carnival holidays. I loved it but hated the steps.
Cheers

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
Ooooh! Thank you SO much Gisela!!!!
Yes the house was Hummingbird Haven.
I did worry for a while about using people's names without their permission, but I haven't given out anything too personal. One person I didn't mention who was a big help to us was Cheno, so I hope he doesn't feel left out. I could introduce him I suppose, but I'll have to revise the whole project yet again.
Maybe I could insert a thank you to him at the beginning.
I AM thinking of changing the cover again
because others have used that one, but don't panic- the content will stay the same.
One of my reasons for self-publishing was that I felt the best market for it was right here on this site,( with thanks to Steve )but I MUST stop fiddling with it!
Love
Noe

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
No, no, Carol. Go on with taht fiddeling
I will buy one book every week and will have a couple of 'limited editions' who will be worth a fortune when you will be famus (regard that I didn't write "if").
Then I have to buy a next book for Cheno too. Maybe the deivery costs will reduce if I order 3 books
And if not I still have really nice presents for people who make my holidays so wonderful everytime I go there.
I hope you will sell a lot more books to the readers of MyTobago.info!
Cheers

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
One book a week eh?
I think it may become a little confusing on the site when it gets to 'version 52'!
Changing the cover ain't easy as most of our photos are just not a suitable size, or boring. I found a good one of people on No-mans Land but it has to be stretched to fit, leaving the people looking like tall skinny aliens. Great for a sci-fi book though.
Back to the drawing board(sigh). Have done nothing else all morning, now got to go to work...

Aw thanks David!
I know that you are an excellent photographer, and I also know that you take rather a lot of photos, so tomorrow I'll be spending a few happy hours looking through them. You're not worried about your copyright then?
If I do use one I suppose I'd better add your name to the thank-yous in the book.
Must get it done soon. Himself and myself are going away for a week on Saturday to use up a timeshare week before we lose it. We are going to Callington in CORNWALL!
Our first holiday without the children for 20, yes TWENTY years!!!!
Well, Son is now 20, and daughter 16, so they should be OK!
Love from Noe in 'orrible cold grey Britain

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
Permission to go AAAAARRRRGH!!!!!!
Oooh that's better...
David,
I tried using one of your photos for my book cover, but it didn't work. It seems it was the wrong size and that you are deficient in pixels or something. Don't worry; it's not a serious condition and I 'm sure you'll find some elixir for it in your local health food store. Many thanks for your help anyway.
So, I managed to find one of ours of Little Tobago that did fit for the front cover, and one of Jacksons Trace in Castara for the back one, which is now a bit squished, but will do. I've also added my middle initial as I discovered a Carol TOWNEND who writes romantic fiction.
Now for the aaaaaarrrrrrgh! bit. When you click on the link and go onto the storefront at Lulu the front cover is shown as blank, and when you do a search for the book the old cover is shown
They said there are 'maintenance issues' ( Americans, you know....sorry Bill ) on the site which will be resolved next week. You can view the covers if you click 'preview' though.
Gisela,
I am assured this will not affect the printing of the book.
which does acknowlege Cheno in the front.
This would never happen if Mr Wooler was in charge. How about a take-over bid then Steve?
This is what the covers should be like:

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
Greetings to all the other loyal subjects,
Kind of quiet around here with Her Majesty out of town. Left last Thursday for a three day trip to Minneapolis to watch our grandson in a swimming tournament and didn't return until late Sunday. Busy at the office yesterday getting caught up and didn't check the forum until a short while ago only to find that I hadn't missed a thing.
Weather here is turning cold and nasty. The rain has just turned to snow and we expect several inches by morning
God, I wish I were in Tobago now

Not just the fact HM is away, being a man you probably have not noticed Christmas is nigh. In female terms this is THE busiest time of the year. We clean we cook we buy presents we wrap them we decorate the house, in fact we are all so pleased we are not yet on Valium at the end of the day we just could smile. Not likely but still hoping . Am sitting here waiting for the last batch of mince pies to come out of the oven - I know, you don't do mince pies - here they are essential. This means we are up to 9 dozen and if I never see another one again . ..... Anyway, large glass of Chablis at hand and intend to end the day watching "Its a Wonderful Life ". Know the script but will still cry.

Re: Have a waffle with Carol
Hello to you all,
just booked my flight for March 2009 and now I have time enough to look forward to the next holidays on Tobago. In between I will order two or three Carol-books and wait for snow. Not that I really like snow but if it has to be cold in winter (and in Germany it IS really cold) there should be snow for Christmas! Much better than ice or rain (or both!)
Bill, I know exactly how you feel, I wish I was in Tobago too!
Sandra, I don't decorate (my cat will destroy immediately) and I don't bake cookies (still on diet). And on Christmas I will be invited at my parents house, thats all. For me it is much enough Christmas like that. Sorry, not very romantic
I wish you all a really nice Christmas time and a lot of nice presents.
Cheers
