Hi folks,
My nearest encounter with anything close to a hangover recently is only to do with sleep deprivation after too many night shifts :!: I am loving all the posts and updates from all you lucky people out there in `Bago's sunshine. Its great when you know the places mentioned.Like being given a blank painting by numbers canvas and putting the colours in all the right spaces without having to refer to the instructions. We have been sooooo cold here for a few weeks now ( thankfully cant compete with Peter's -16c  ) that I welcome the chance to lose myself in the daydreams and feel the warmth. My turn will come soon. Keep up the good work boys.
Paul, sorry you are being targeted by the bitey things, you must be worthy of a nibble  .I will be restocking my medicine chest in anticipation of the battle of woman v insects in April.Deet, daily dose of antihistamine, essential oil of lavender and lemongrass plus liberal applications of Avon body oil spray.Hope I win :!:
Happy Bago :D :D :D

David ... I will be in touch over the next couple of days.

Gisella ... Rum should always be applied orally ... what do you do with it?

AH Stewart ... Ancle owns and manages the Naturalist Beach Resort in Castara.

Today I went to Charlottesville after the rains stopped. Sunny day with some cloudiness.

I don't get it about Pirates Bay ... my 6th attempt at snorkelling there with not much luck ... can't say I have not tried.

Anyway ... got back to Castara to scandals and scandals ... the Canadian faily were here to attend a wedding in Heavenly Bay at 5pm this afternoon ... Duck took them out for a trip and they came back absolutely plastered ... only the mad (but nice) lady managed to make the wedding ... oh lordy, I think the 2 gentlemen will be sleeping under the boats tonight ... erm ... I think she will be carrying them out to sleep under the boats  it won't make much difference ... Duck is in deep trouble

The sea is up ... waves getting bigger ... full moon over next 2 days so snorkelling not likely. Just had a short rain shower.

SFBC countless ... got 2 bites on the face ... why do they have to do that? ... it's inhumane !!

Will go check out Mr Watkins over the next few days and see which table he will be drinking me under

Regards ... 9 more days of bliss ... yeeez !!

Hi

Good luck with your meeting with Mr Watkins, can't remember if you two have already met, but I'm sure he will 'spot' you. #-o

Poor Paul!
two bites in the face, thats bad! But its close to Carnival so maybe people think it belongs to your costume
Nice story about the Canadian wedding :-) Write a book about your activities like Carol (NOE) said. And don't worry about Duck. He is always in trouble :) My best whishes to him and he can take me out for snorkeling in March again 8)

Say Hello to Mr. Watkins and enjoy the rum. There are several ways to use rum but YES, orally is the best way. Sometimes I use it with baked bananas to flame it (is that the right word?) quench it with orange juice and swap it over icecream but I guess thats off-topic...

Enjoy Bago like Jill says and leave some Carib form me.

Jill, will I see you before I leave on the 9th April?

Cheers

Paul,
May I congratulate you on your excellent waffling. I am going to abdicate and nominate you as Waffle King.
Bill will now no doubt tell us that there's a fast food joint in the US with such a name.
Like Gisela I love the story of the wedding. Oh I wish I'd been there! I could have written a good 2000 words about it!
Keep it up. Jot it down on paper the old -fashioned way so you don't forget anything.
Have fun

Gisela ... I never knew there were so many things to do with Rum ... until now I have just added a juice and downed it but I promise to be more imaginative from now so I will start pouring it over everything (burp!) ... I will say hello to Duck for you ...

Carole ... I am keeping daily notes for your tittilation when I come back. Don't abdicate, we can be King and Queen together

SFBC ... still countless ... notable nasty ones are one in that sensitive spot behind the ear and another on the back of the neck and (I don't know how) a very painful one on the sole of my left foot ... I am beginning to speculate if these things can penetrate clothing ... so renaming them to ROTAAH's (pronounced Rotter's) and it stands for 'Row of Teeth And An A...h.le' ... this would seem appropriate

Anyway ... there have been plenty of showers overnight so it's all fresh and cool this morning ... I saw the Canadian gentleman wandering about this morning looking out to sea at nothing in particular (Billy Nomates I think) ... this is the first sighting of him since he retired ungracefully to his room at 5 yesterday afternoon.

Don't you love 'em ?

Off to the west (Irvine/Crown Point) today ... see what trouble we can find there.

Gisela,

I'm not going to Tobago  so it is unlikely that you will see me, unless you will spend some time in the UK first (or maybe you will see me in the Maldives - which is where I am hoping to be for my holidays :D but nothing booked yet).

Jill ... Sorry you are not going to Tobago ... but who can complain about the Maldives ... a place I would like to go to one day.

Anyway ... back on the farm, so to speak weather been nice with some short sharp showers (no night frosts  ) ... was swimming in the Liquid Sunshine this afternoon ... lovely.

The waves are getting up so it is a bit less of snorkelling and a bit more of playing chicken with the rollers as they come in.

Nothing scandalous to report today ... but hey, the night is young and those mischievious Canadians are still about

What a wonderfully groovy and interesting thread this has become now you are in Tobago, Paul. (That's not to say that it wasn't groovy and interesting before). Am sucking it all up. Ain't gonna be there this year so you are providing me with Castara by proxy. The dictionary definition of proxy appears to be - 'A person authorized to act for another; an agent or substitute.' I think that covers what you are doing over there quite nicely.

Thank You

You're Welcome

Hello :)

my names Jim, son of Paul Tallet.

im out here in Tobago with him now and thought i'd join the site to give my opinions on topics.

this is my fourth time here in seven years started coming here in 2001 at 11yrs old my 3rd time here was in 2005 and havent bin back till now and i'm beginning to see what Tobago's all about. because back wen i was 11 and first coming out here it was all fun fun fun didn't really take much in.

it's bin a fantastic first week, covered alot of the island already, even done my first bit of driving on the island (getting used to the automatic 4x4's was a challenge :? ) best day so far has to be the trip to Arnos Vale where both me and my dad saw what must of been a 8-10foot morey eel, and in the same snorkle about 5 greenback turtles :D
spent alot of time at the west of the island which is definately my favourite side, recently tried out pirates bay again never had any luck there snorkling and this time unfortunately the same.
i love liming at Bago's bar, and having a big apetite love eating there as the food is the best!

anyway im blabbing on il keep posting my opinions as the days go by

regards Jim

Welcome to James ... he is here to check my spelling mistakes. Funny that his eyes have opened now he is older ... there is a strong argument for leaving young children at home ... all that money down the drain !!

The showers have continued overnight and into this morning ... typical weather ... couldn't be better.

The sea is still moderately heavy.

Anyway ... enough of the weather ... what about the scandals?

Last night it was quiet and we went to Margerites and found 20 Canadians in there ... they were have a party for the genetleman that missed the wedding reception ... no chance of getting served in there so off we went for a quiet night in the Cascreole for dinner and a game of pool.

This morning I could not draw much comment from the Canadian lady ... when pressed she just said "No more Duck !"

I thought Duck was in the er Dog House !! Didn't I?

Today we will chill out in Castara and get some proper sun on our pretty flesh but, if there is no trouble, we may slope off to Englishman's Bay for some snorkelling.

Been passing the Late Night Parlour near Parlatuvier recently ... lost the thread but I can report the sighting of 2 dogs, a goat and a man 20 yards down the road yesterday afternoon on our way back from Charlottesville.

Hi Steve

I will see if I can track Duck down ... he is in hiding until Saturday I think.

Not much happened over last 24 hours as I have badly bruised my ankle (don't ask how) ... pain excruciating but hoping it will sort itself out by tomorrow. James doing all the driving.

Weather ... the showers continued overnight and this morning looks very clear ... sea moderate.

Hi Steve ... Duck sends his regards back.

Hi David ... tried calling you today but your number is 'not in service'.

Ankle much better ... boy oh boy I thought I had broke it ... booking a boat trip for tomorrow with Duck, several others and the last of the Canadians ... it could get messy

Weather ... Cloudy and showery down Crown Point ... lovely and sunny in Castara.

Sea moderate.

Hi Poul.

I hope you will tell Duck that i asked you say hello from me.

Actually Duck and Jade is like sons for me, and they call my son Dennis brother.

We spend every day together with them last time in November.

Have a nice sailing trip tomorrow, and tell Duck (Not so fast) and he will laugh and remember that i was sitting in his chair , because off my bag.

Susanne 19 days to go

Thursday-C-ville, Weather was great today mostly sunny with just a few drops of rain early afternoon. I have been here since Dec. 29 and the weather has not been to bad for Jan.. Not much rain but most days have been mostly cloudy. The bay has been fairly calm during the day. Last week Pirates bay had some big waves. Outside the sea has been what you would expect in Jan. Only a few days has it been really rough when the fishermen came in early.

A shark was sighted yesterday morning in front of the fish market. Some say it was the first one seen that close in thirty years which is amazing considering all the fish guts that get thrown in the surf. No one seems concerned.

I have not been reporting because only one computer has been working and I always let others on first. Had a bad router box that was fixed a couple of days ago and now have 3 computers going.

Paul you should have stopped in when you were in C-ville. I should be getting down to Castara early next week and will try to look you up.

I think David is playing hard to get. I too tried to call him and got someone who said wrong number. I look for a white guy when I go by the bar in town but have not had any luck sighting any possible Davids. I will keep trying.

Thanks Dennis.

I will mention you Suzanne.

Phil ... you need to get here before Weds ... but I may be back up there if you know anyone that lend me a rowing boat so I can go explore Lovers Bay.

Nice bbq last night with Duck and other residents ... the word is out around Castara about the Canadians ... I guess a few more new people will be registering here to add their views ... Duck is becoming an unlikely hero.

30 minutes to go before this Duck trip ... it's shaping up well ... someone has put in a special request for water skis ... need I say more?

Weather lovely.

Hello Paul
Its great to get your updates from Castara its starting to have the feeling of the Archers (for those who do not listen to BBC Radio 4 this is a daily form of soap opera giving the update of the happenings in a small village in England).
We will be there in less than 2 weeks and I am not sure I will be able to keep the narrative going, last time we visited I had some great fishing with Rusty even though I ended up with awful sun burn but I think this time I will go with Duck again as it seems it could be great fun even if we catch nothing.
Have you managed to find the illusive Santa David yet or is he still in hiding.
Its good to see that James has the Tobago bug and that he is now fan of Carib or Stag (is he the same as his Dad) mind you that would probably mean the rum punch or even the Port.
Hope you continue to have a great time and I will contact you on your return.
Regards
Paul

There are four more Canadians who are reading all of these posts, while we eagerly await our shot at Castara starting on Feb 6. We booked last March, so it's been a long time coming........but it's finally almost here...
