Re: LIQUID SUNSHINE - Feedback

Post by Paul Tallet »

The flow of moisture continues to be pushed north over the south eastern Caribbean by a southerly airflow that seems to have become well established.

The satloops are not showing very bright echoes and therefore the rain has eased off a little.

As mentioned in yesterday's Liquid Sunshine update, I still expect the rainfall to be higher than normal for a few days and there is the risk that it could get quite heavy from time to time.

Hopefully there will be afew breaks in the cloud too.

Wed., C-ville, Today and yesterday have been overcast with just a little rain yesterday morning. Yesterday the sea outside the bay was very rough. The bay is still quite muddy. The sea was calmer today and it looks like it might calm down some more tonight.

There is a large fishing party from Europe here and have chartered both of Frothy's HardPlay boats and Curtis's Workshop boat for 5 days. A few 200 to 400 pound Marlin have been caught and released with a number more hooked but lost. A couple of sails have also been hooked but lost although they did jump a few times. They have brought in some nice 10 to 20 pound Wahoo. A nice 12 pound Snapper was caught trolling which does not happen much. Phil

Yesterday was a reasonably pleasant day, plenty of sun with a few darker periods.Sunset was glorious with a mackerel sky, which in Kernow is a sign of good weather to come.Does that apply in the tropics.
To much of the white stuff last evening but it is forgiving!

It still looks a little overcast from the satloops.

A new airflow is developing to the east carrying plenty of moisture and bringing strong trades which possibly explains the choppiness in the sea.

Not out of the woods yet.

Thanks for all your feedback.

Friday, C-ville, Today it was nice after 2 in the afternoon. Yesterday the sea was really, really rough. One of the chartered fishing boats came in and the captain asked me if I had seen "The Perfect Storm". He said the waves were running 20 foot plus. They caught one nice Mahi Mahi 26 pounds and one small one, two Baracuda and a nice Wahoo. The sea today is calming down and it looks like tomorrow may be the best all week. Phil

Studley Park,
Friday, one rain storm after another, at least not the pounding rain this time. Fairly cool. Barbados Bay still very choppy; fisherman not going out a lot this past week. Fantastic V day...no rain here or in Carnbee or Golden Grove area (shopping day). I guess that was our moment of sunshine. Woke up this morning to rain and then more rain. It's now 3:00 pm, sun out, maybe the end?? Didn't send off soon enough...the sun is gone and it's raining. Maybe tomorrow will be dry.

Yes Peter ... I am not surprised.

Another plume of moisture has worked it's way northwards ... most of the rain is to the east but the lighter rain is affecting many areas as far north as Barbados.

It is a situation that has yet to change unfortunately.

Sorry Peter ... it's been a bit of a bxxxxr hasn't it?

The current plume of moisture is pressing further north and now affecting most of the windward islands but it does appear to be clearing up a bit around Tobago and Grenada/Grenadines.

Still plenty of moisture to come, it has set in quite well ... so probably more rain here and there ... But!! ... Some hope is on the horizon, the Atlantic High is moving back into it's normal place ... it will take some time before the easterlies (trades) take over ... 3 or 4 more days.

Hopefully back to normal by the end of this week.

Cindy ... the forecasting is very difficult right now with an unusual southerly and moist airflow over Tobago ... it looks like this will go away by the end of this week and things should return to normal but, to be fair, the weather has been unusual around the whole world in the last few months (i.e.; the UK has had it's first 'real' winter for 2 decades).

Thanks for the feedback David and Phil ... it seems relatively clear right now but I guess you can see that rain could return at anytime while this moist southerly airflow continues.

The Atlantic High is building back to the north and this is a sign that things should return to normal by the weekend.

Tuesday, C-ville, Today was cloudy in the AM, 10 minute shower at noon and mostly sunny the rest of the afternoon. The bay was real calm and the sea not to rough. Not many fish being caught. Phil
