My name is Kern Millien. I used mytobago to look for properties for my wife and i to spend our honeymoon. As such we wanted privacy, comfort, quiet, access to the beach and somewhere away from all the buzz of crown point and other more frequented areas of Tobago.

Our search led us to Glouchester and Essex Cottage. (Different buildings operated by the same couple. We stayed in the Essex Cottage. In a nutshell it was what we wanted and more.

I will seek to cover three(3) aspects of our stay that made it as memorable as it was.

PROPERTY

The Cottage is just that. A cottage. You are surrounded by wood. It is cosy, equiped with the necessities, simple and comfortable. The large shutter windows that line the entire side of the cottage just bring to life the trees that surround, filled with the birds of all sorts.( Had to ensure we close up early though didn't want too much bugs joining us for dinner) The sun settling on the ocean is beautiful from the porch.

As the pool is really located on the villa side of the property there is a short walk. However the pool is beautiful and the view of the sunset from this infinity pool is great. Made for some nice pics. The pool is fairly private. Moreso if you stay in the villa.

There is a winding path that took us from the cottage down to a river with mini waterfalls, possible bigger ones lower down. While my wife had a bath in the river i followed its path hoping to find where it met the sea. Didn't succeed but it made for quite the adventure. Those more inclined would enjoy that challenge located right there on the property.

LOCATION.

The property is located in Palutuvier. We wanted a place away from the norm and this was it. It takes about an hour from crown point to reach to the cottage but when we arrived we never had to go back to that side of the island.

Englishman's Bay, Palutuvier, Castara, Bloody Bay, Charlotville, Pirates Bay (a must see) and others are all
within easy reach from this location. We went to all during our stay.

From matches to Alcohol, all we needed to buy could be found in close proximity.

SERVICE

We didn't have the privilige of meeting the owners but the manager did a wonderful job in making us feel comfortable and very importantly safe. He was always there to answer questions, provide help and guide us. full snorkeling gear was provided for our use and we even got some fish broth.

The owners also provide booklets that gave extensive directions to all the surrounding beaches, stores, restaurants, attractions etc. Of course this was like our vacation manual.

CONCLUSION

We wanted to enjoy the real tobago experience and our stay at the Essex Cottage made that possible. If you want privacy, nature and easy access to some of the most untouched beaches with the crowds. Then this is the place.
