German resident killed

Post by Steve Wooler »

It is with very great sadness and horror that I must report another murder in Tobago. As usual with news from Tobago, details are sketchy and difficult to validate, but here is what I know. My apologies to the family if any of this is incorrect but the information is given in best faith.

Over the weekend, police were called to a house in Bacolet after neighbours became concerned at the sudden dissapearance of German owner, Peter Taut. Three local men appeared to be living in the house. These men told police that Peter had sold the house to them and that he had returned to Germany. Contacts confirm that this was Peter's intention. Police later returned to investigate further - and found a body buried in a shallow grave in the back yard. The three men have been arrested.

To repeat the words of one contact, I am speechless. Our sympathy naturally must go to Peter's family and friends and, for once, to the Tobago police who seem to have acted very speedily and efficiently in this case. I hope that I am not proved wrong as the story unfolds.

I´ve been reading about this into the Trinidad Internet Express too.

If I remember right, the police were looking for Peter Taut, they instead found two local men living into the house. They told the police, that Peter Taut did sell the house to them, so the police went back to the station. Later on they did return and they found Peter Taut dead into a shallow grave behind the house, the arrested these two men.

Hi Guys

For various reasons, I would prefer not to detail all I have found out about this horrible case. We will probably never get the whole and full truth of this matter. However, what I can say with certainty is that it is NOT a tourism-related issue. There is considerably more to the story than meets the eyes. It would not be fair to Peter's family to give details - or allow others to do so except and unless those details become wide public knowledge.

Hi again

I totally agree with Steve about what he say, and when I´d read my reply I´d see I forgotten one important thing for those who doesn´t know anything about this killing.

The Police were looking for Peter because peoples become worried, as they didn´t see him around. That´s why they went to his home, nothing else.

End of reply from me regarding this .

I would just like to notify readers that four Trinidadian men appeared before Scarborough magistrates earlier this week. They were remanded in custody, charged with the murder of Peter Taut. A day later, two of the same group were back before magistrates accused of the murder of a local couple, whose house in the village of Runnemede had been set alight on 20th September. Thank God that these animals are off the streets.

I would like to add that all four individuals are originally from Trinidad, not Tobago.

Hi Andy - yes, as in "four Trinidadian men..."

By the way, did anybody mention that the four men arrested were from Trinidad?

Sorry, we shouldn't really be treating any part of this with humour. My apologies - no offence intended.
