Have you actually worked out how far it is via land and compared it to the direct route?

I am not sure about 'men only' ... women deserve considerable credit for making us men what we are  Bless them  We have to include them ... and, Carol ... don't start [-X

So for the madness, is it a 'Have a Wibble with Bill'? ... or 'myTobagoons'?

Whatcha mean, "don't start," Pete?

If that's not an invitation to start starting, then I don't know what is, so I'm about to start starting.

It's a funny thing, but I normally go straight to the Waffle, but I saw Janette's name so clicked on it out of curiosity, and what do I find? The men, led by none other than Bill (who should know better) are attempting to set up a splinter group as competition to the Waffle.

"Women made us what we are" Paul? Oh no we didn't. We would have made a much better job of it! All we can do is try and improve as much as we can, given the material we have to work with..

Anyway, never mind about walking to Tobago. Try this:
Outward journey: London to Singapore 13 hours. Hanging around the airport 2 hours. Singapore to Christchurch NZ 11 hours.

Return journey: Christchurch to Singapore 11 hours. Hanging round the airport FIVE hours. Singapore to London 13 hours.

Jet-lag? Jet-lag? Huh! I'm so jet-lagged my eyes are facing the wrong way. Flying to Tobago? Dat's NUTTIN' man, NUTTIN!

As for walking, why bother? Just invent a tele-porting machine. "Beam me up, Snotty"!

I must go for a lie down. Wake me up when the fun starts...

Ouch!!

Anyway, moving swiftly on ... what a wonderful idea to invent a tele-porting machine ... has anyone got any ideas?

Welcome back Carol ... sorry we misbehaved while you were gone ... as men do

So it appears quite obvious that, despite their initial reluctance to get involved, the "Fair Ladies" have been lurking on this thread just waiting for a reason to pounce

Paul,

I'm sure if one wanted to spend the time on the internet one could get detailed driving directions (including distances) from Chicago all the way through to some coastal location in Venezuela but I honestly don't feel up to the task.

I remember as a teenager, back in the early sixties, reading an article about somebody driving from the States all the way through Mexico, Central America and South America down to the southernmost tip. I recall that most of it was on dirt tracks and took a month of hard driving in a Range Rover or Jeep type vehicle. I thought this would be quite an adventure to undertake but unfortunately (or not) school, job, marriage and kids got in the way

Paul,

There may be a time and a place and an opportunity in the future, but there is also a changing of body and spirit. I now consider having to perhaps settle for a different brand of gin for my evening martini as much adventure as I can handle.

Gill,

It's good to know that "you all" are out there to keep us safe from harm, otherwise who knows how much trouble we could get into

Sandra,

Women recall being six years old whereas men never quit being six years old

Hmmm! Interesting thought David - but then I'd find it difficult to refuse the same request to ban the Cornish, who are surely just as zany? :P

Dear David,

I am delighted that you're back on form. So delighted in fact, that I am going to refrain from locking horns with you over your outrageous and audacious attack on my species, and your feeble attempt to cover your tracks.

Think ive got a great idea, bit quicker than walking but the same route. Take a seat in a lazy boy easy chair, carib in one hand roti in the other, and watch TOBAGO adverts all the way on the flat screen. i reckon it will take a couple of hours off the trip. One way ticket of course. Might pass you on way home Paul
