Getting married

Post by Louise I »

My partner and I have decided to get married - and where else to do it but on Tobago?! And of course at our favourite place - Charlotteville!

Henry's uncle is a vicar - does anyone know if he would be able to marry us on Tobago or must it be a local minister?

Any tips anyone wants to give us on arranging a wedding in Tobago will be gratefully recieved - although I know Steve's will be to contact Marie at Topbago Weddings! That is on my list of things to do but the wedding will not be to 2005.

Still - a good excuse to go next year to check things out.

Hi Louise

My tip to assist you in planning your wedding is not necessary as you have already decided on it - a research trip beforehand. This is the key and enabled our 2002 wedding to go off well, when we used to live in tropical England. Oh, and Marie is also the one who will organise all the paperwork, flowers, music etc etc for you well and for a resonable fee, even if you can ship in your own vicar (which seems feasible but ask her - she won't mind giving you free initial advice). Her website (or maybe this one) covers the rest of the legal side. One other tip - Brent Hart was a terrific, warm and humerous "marriager", husband of one of the best photographers on the island, Christine. She is also now ordained so can marry you, but might find it tricky to take pics at the same time. A lovely couple, they ,make a great team and don't charge much - certainly cheaper that an extra airticket etc to fly one over. Hope it all goes well,
Regards

How are your plans going.
I arranged my son's wedding in Tobago last year and it was a great success.
I then lived in Trinidad but I have now moved to Tobago.

getting married in tobago

Post by Sarah Jane »

Hi Louise,

I am getting married in Tobago in March 2004 and have also chosen to stay in Charlottesville for the Honeymoon period of the trip.

If you speak to Marie you will see that she is brilliant! I am using her services to arrange our wedding and she is a lovely lady and very laid back.

As Marie has told us she is flexible and will make the final arrangements for the venue after we arrive so that we can check out some nice spots first and pick the one thats right for us.

If its any help I will post my experience here when we get back and let you know how it all went and hopefully help you with any questions you might have.

Good luck with your wedding planning,

Sarah :D

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for that - we have spoken to Marie who has been really helpful. We are hoping to get married on Pirates Bay and have a barbecue there and a steel band - she says that is fine and do-able!!

Hope your wedding goes well - looking forward to the report/pictures.

Louise
