Re: LIQUID SUNSHINE - Feedback
Been watching it Andy.
Most of the Caribbean is getting heavy rain. The Tobago rains are from another Tropical Wave though other islands have had much heavier rainfall.
This weather has set in for the next week or 2 with a succession of Tropical waves lining up across the Atlantic ... these are moving south of Tobago into Venezuela and bringing energy to the Low Pressure there. Hence, plumes of heavy moisture move up into the Caribbean.
Typical wet season ... but a bit early ... will be interesting to see how it goes up to November.
Regards

Re: LIQUID SUNSHINE - Feedback
Rained on and off all night and now looks like an all day affair. But it is nice and cool as a trade off! Except for a few dead or weakened plants I would never have known that we just finished a serious drought.

Finally saw the sun at about 2:30 pm (half an hoour ago). Rained hard on and off all night and morning. Muggy as hell right now!
I'm not complaining, I love the rain.

Thanks Paul. Enjoy I am.
Today is sunny and warm with blue skies. Maybe a chance to dry out before the next Wave.

Paul,
Thanks for for your reports. It rained for the most part of the last few days (as you predicted) and today it is sunny and breezy. Keep up the good work.
Now back to the hammock!!!

Hugh, It's even better when you retire from teaching. Suddenly you find that you can go to Tobago in January and February and enjoy the summer at home!As the saying goes, "the three best things about teaching are June, July and August".

Frank,
Won't be long now, possibly two years or less, and then I can take advantage of travel deals too.
Summer in the San Francisco Bay Area is cold and foggy (recall the Mark Twain quote). September and October are our best weather months. Plus I really love the green and wet season here in Tobago.

Re: LIQUID SUNSHINE - Feedback
The current weather situation brought enormous amounts of rain to Trinidad and especially
central and parts of western Trinidad experienced serious flooding on Monday.
Disaster response authorities were out in full force and fortunately no fatalities had to be recorded.
Many people lost all their furniture, appliances, food an clothing in their flooded houses though,
and in Glencoe and Carenage some houses are close to slip down from the hills after landslides brought
down parts of the properties to the Western Main Road.
We sincerely hope for the rain to settle down for some time and let the land dry up to a certain extend.

Malvie,
i am in Trinidad, and the weather here is sometimes different to the weather in Tobago.
But i can tell you as much as what a friend from Tobago told me on Friday evening, when he reported
sunshine and some scattered showers.
Tobago usually gets the more moderate showers conmpared to Trinidad, and they are mostly less than an hour
and thundery is not very heavy.
You may expect brief heavy showers mostly in the afternoon.
Enjoy your trip to Tobago.
Greetings,
Andy

Re: LIQUID SUNSHINE - Feedback
We are grateful, as Paul suggested, for not geeting as much "blessings" compared to the months before.
The last few days Trinidad experienced some isolated showers but fortunately without any disasterous effects.
The extremely high humidity seems to ease up a bit and we are glad that some effects like wooden frames
being swollen from moisture seem to gradually disappear and allow to close doors and windows without
slamming them
I agree to the comment of a reader from Tobago, it almost feels a bit like the beginning of the dry season.
Can't wait .... but knowing it's not over yet.

Re: LIQUID SUNSHINE - Feedback
I agree.
The 2010 wet season is not over yet.
The high humidity indicates moisture ... this leads to rain and you need to wait until possibly December before any rain events can be ruled out (remember November 2004).
The 2010 'wet' season has been wet but, even though alot of Tropical Storms and Hurricanes have developed, there has not been enough cooling in the Caribbean Sea which is having record temperatures.
Large and churning hurricanes are required to set the balance right and cool the sea and most of these have been out in the Atlantic this year ... the wet season is coming to an end but the Caribbean Sea has not released it's pressure fully ... I would expect a rather wet dry season ahead for 2011 if a major hurricane does not track through the Caribbean between now and the end of November.

Paul,
I never put that all together about how hurricanes are necessary for the "normal" patterns. Very interesting and informative.
Thanks, Hugh

Hugh,
i lost your e-mail address together with my old computer. If you happen to still have my e-mail address,
drop a line, please.
Paul,
i believe we can live with some rain during the dry season. It doesn't need to be SO dry again.
The high water temperatures this season brought back some fish we didn't see in many years.
I understand occasionally blue fin tunas are caught in the islands now. I wouldn't mind catching
one of those fellas one day
, they taste delicious !
