Drinking and Driving

Post by Andy K »

Folks,

i want to bring this matter to the general attention, even though it should have been highlighted here much earlier.

Some of you may not be aware that Trinidad and Tobago is no longer a paradise for "limers" who want to drive
home with "de head nice".
Earlier this year a law passed the last hurdles through parliament, to introduce breathalyzers, alcohol limit and fines
for offenders.

Be aware that if you stand out by strange driving, slurred speech and other irregularities, you may be taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test, arrested and charged for drunk driving and fined approximately TT$ 5000.- for the first offence. In case of a serious accident this might be accompanied by a jail term, especially when persons are injured.

Please exercise good driving practice like in a developed country and you will certainly enjoy your holidays in Tobago.

If this makes people safer drivers and saves lives and injuries . . . it is a very good thing! [-o<

Hugh,

There are no statistics yet but i seem to notice a significant decline in fatal "party accidents"
on a weekend.

Cheers

Andy
