My adult son Eliot and I last stayed at Birdies Nest in 2009 and despite our avowed intention to always try somewhere new each holiday, we both agreed that here was an exception. The recession put pay to that in 2010 but in January 2011 we returned once more to paradise.

I was afraid that we'd remembered all the good bits and that we might be disappointed the second time around but from the moment that Prince's 'man' met us at the airport and drove us the ten minutes to Black Rock I realised that there were indeed NO bad bits!

Prince has continued to invest in the property and it gleamed in newly painted glory. He has completed the fencing which now boasts remote controlled gates. He has installed security cameras as well so that even the most nervous visitor can be re-assured about their safety. We found that it was largely unnecessary as the villagers were all so friendly and often called round to 'lime' with us in the evenings as I cooked the evening meal on the gas barbecue provided.

Despite being thrilled with the service provided by Sheppy's car hire in 2009 we chose this time to hire Prince's automatic Mazda 323 with full aircon. We were not disappointed, it did the job superbly and was a very good deal - Cheers Prince.

It was good to see Princess again and several other members of the extended Robinson family and friends and such a pleasure to hear our names called out in the village street as new friends chose to pass the time of day with us.

We enjoyed the 1 mile walk along the beach from the apartment right up to Plymouth twice a day, both in the morning and then again by moonlight, never once feeling anything other than relaxed. True we did meet the 'coconut man' one the first day, as we did last visit, but a firm refusal to buy his egg sized 'coconut' did the trick and he was not seen again.

Prince was again the perfect host and nothing is ever too much trouble for this real nice guy who we now both regard as a friend.

Towards the end of the holiday we both agreed that if anything we had enjoyed this second visit more than the first as we now felt part of the village rather than mere tourists. Finances permitting, this will not be our last visit to Birdies Nest.

During our stay the once rather muddy track from the road to the apartment was asphalted and now looks very smart. Also, and perhaps I'm jumping the gun by telling you this, a man came to measure up and quote for a pool in the garden overlooking the beach! Whether it will be there when we next visit, I don't know, but if Prince's reputation continues to grow I know he will re-invest it to the benefit of his guests.
