o.a.p.Holiday insurance

Post by Stella Porteous »

I joined My Tobago a few months ago and think it's a great site. All you need to know re Tobago. I enjoy viewing the forums which i find interesting and informative. Get the general impression that all contributors are quite youthful? [mind you, anyone on the right side of 45 seems young to me these days!!] Are there any o.a.ps out there? the reason i ask is that i find annual world wide insurance seems to skyrocket once you reach 65,they must assume we are all about to keel over! Seriously though ,if anyone has knowledge of a firm that is 'reputable' and reasonably priced i'd be glad to hear of it . My current one goes up higher every year and runs out before my trip to B.W.Inn in April. I've had a look on the net but find that a bit daunting. Thanks Stella P.

Hello David
Thanks for your suggestion. will make a concerted effort in the next couple of days to sort something out. Trouble is, it seems that when you hit the 65 bit that the prices rise so high. my husband and i had no problems until a couple of years ago then whoosh, up it went!! I suppose i can understand it from a practical money insurance point of view but it's annoying when youhave no more health problems than you did a few years earlier. Look on the bright side -----one does get concessions with various things once one becomes of a 'certain age'! Regards Stella

Just in case it is of any use to anyone else with a similar 'over 65'insurance' problem . I explored quite a few avenues, prices ranged wildly, from £75. per couple, annual plus worldwide, to over £400,!!! [Nat West]depending on age and any medical revelatations. Ended up with Marks and Spencers, just over £109. and no excess to pay. £90 something if you settled for paying an excess if and when claiming. Quite happy with that one.

Read through my last missive---i think i could do with some spelling lessons as well. Spot the [un] deliberate mistake.

Just a thought - have you tried contacting Age Concern or Help the Aged. I seem to remember my parents did for a trip to the States and they either have their own policy or can recommend the best

Thanks Helen for your suggestions re insurance. i've actually dealt with M&S now, but will keep your ideas in mind for next year. The replies i've had to my query have been appreciated and may help someone else with a similar problem.

Stella.
